The Public Theater's Free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest officially opened last night, June 16, and runs through Sunday, July 5, 2015. In The Tempest, Shakespeare's classic about young love, old enemies, and the eternal magic of storytelling, Prospero, exiled to a fantastical island, unleashes a churning storm to shipwreck the traitor brother who stole his throne and settle the score once and for all. But bitter revenge is upended by newfound love in this sublime masterpiece that proves we are all 'such stuff as dreams are made on.'

Major casting has have been announced for the 2015 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity's Playwrights For A Cause, set to take place at 7:30pm on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Sheen Center, located at 18 Bleecker Street. The evening, which will benefit the non-profit National Coalition Against Censorship, will showcase world premiere one-act plays by four acclaimed playwrights: Israel Horovitz's Breaking Phillip Glass and Erik Ehn's Her Speech, both directed by Planet Connections Theatre Festivity founder and PFAC Producing Artistic Curator Glory Kadigan; Halley Feiffer's A Play About New Mexico, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch; and Neil LaBute's Mohammed Gets a Boner, directed by Marco Calvani.

Broadway star Caissie Levy will headline the entertainment portion of the Alliance Theatre's 7th annual A Tony Evening. The Canadian-born actress and singer recently completed a year-long run starring as Fantine in the lauded Broadway revival of Les Miserables. Levy is best known to Broadway and West End audiences for originating the roles of Molly in Ghost The Musical, and Shelia in the Tony Award-winning revival of Hair.

On April 12th, 2015, Tony Nominee Michael McElroy (Rent, Big River), Broadway's Caissie Levy (Ghost, Les Miserables), Derek Klena (Dogfight, Wicked), and Eden Espinosa (RENT, Wicked) will perform in Raise Your Voice: A Cabaret For A Cure, a benefit concert to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Conceived and directed by Rob Morean, a Sophomore at Tisch School of the Arts in the Department of Drama's New Studio on Broadway, and inspired by his recent battle and win against Hodgkin's Lymphoma, all proceeds from the cabaret will be donated directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
