Greg Dulli, frontman of The Afghan Whigs and The Twilight Singers,releases “It Falls Apart,” the second single from his first-ever solo record, Random Desire out February 21st via Royal Cream/BMG. 

Today, Greg Dulli, frontman of The Afghan Whigs and The Twilight Singers, releases “It Falls Apart,” the second single from his first-ever solo record, Random Desire out February 21st via Royal Cream/BMG.“'It Falls Apart' allows itself to get pulled into its darker inclinations. Perpetually falling piano notes grip at the melody, miring it in a sense of inevitable collapse. Even so, the synthesizers and drums push upward, giving Dulli's vocals something to hook onto as he sings,” said Consequence of Sound. Earlier this month Dulli also released an All That Jazz inspired music video for Random Desire's lead single “Pantomima,” directed by long-time Whigs collaborator Philip Harder. Two River Theater (TRT) has launched its 2019/20 Season with 'Cyrano' by Jason O'Connell and Brenda Withers, adapted from the play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand, directed by Meredith McDonough in a co-production with Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Broadwayworld.com had the pleasure of interviewing Britney Simpson who plays Roxane in the production.

Legendary rock band Blind Melon's Christopher Thorn and Roger Stevens are Tom Needham's special guests this upcoming Thursday, May 2nd at 6 pm on WUSB's THE SOUNDS OF FILM. They will be discussing their innovative documentary, ALL I CAN SAY, which is having its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in the 'Viewpoints' Documentary Program.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. Continuing its tradition of elevating exceptional storytelling rooted in today's global film communities, the 18th annual Festival will showcase debut works from emerging talent and new works from notable filmmakers. The program includes discoveries, comedies, music-centered, political and social films. The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 24 - May 5.

Tolkien (The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings trilogy), making its world premiere at New York's Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, 4th Floor) for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, July 2, 2017. Opening Night is set for tonight, June 20 at 7:00pm.

This January, Royal Family Productions (Katie Avebe, Mary Bernardi, Chris Henry and Andy Theodorou, Founders; Michael Perreca, Executive Director) will present the world premiere of Rock and Roll Refugee, written and directed by Chris Henry, music and lyrics by Genya Ravan, with music direction, orchestrations and additional music by Daniel A. Weiss, and choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter and Liz Ramos.

The 8th annual MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert will launch a special partnership with DJ AM Memorial Fund and honors Jerry Cantrell and Neil Lasher, with performances by Alice In Chains, Billy Idol And His Band, Heart, Mark Lanegan, and Duff McKagan's Loaded, all to raise funds for MusiCares' addiction recovery services. Steve-O will host, and Moby will DJ at the live benefit concert tonight, May 31.

The new DC area theatre season begins in September. Over 50 shows are opening in our professional and community theatres. But before we move on to the new season and what's opening in September, let's look back at my personal favorite musicals, plays, and performances in both musicals and plays in the DC area - from August 2010 to August 2011.

As we welcome in a new year of great theatre in the nation's capital, I thought it would be fun to do one of those “Best of 2010' lists as well as preview what's opening in January on DC area stages. So let's raise our glasses and offer a toast to all those theatre companies who gave us great productions in 2010, and to the upcoming 2011 theatre season!
