MATA FESTIVAL Returns to The Kitchen, 4/25 - 29

Now in its nineteenth year, MATA Festival is back at The Kitchen on April 25 - 29 with an overflowing bounty of the newest music. Representing 31 early-career composers from seventeen countries, it offers a singular opportunity for New Yorkers to grasp the complete spectrum of new music emerging today - from gritty European modernism to experiments in theater, sound, and acoustics. This year's concerts include seven world premieres (including three MATA commissions), fifteen US premieres, and six NY premieres. 

Opera Star Deborah Voigt To Join Made For Online Opera VIREO

Composer Lisa Bielawa's Vireo: The Spiritual Biography of a Witch's Accuser will feature world-renowned opera star Deborah Voigt singing a role created for her in Vireo's Episode Eleven, "Circus," to be shot on January 20, 2017 at the 16th Street Oakland Train Station in Oakland, California. 

Simone Dinnerstein & Brad Mehldau to Continue 'Neighborhood Classics' Series at PS 321

Jazz pianist Brad Mehldau has been called 'adept at bending almost any music to the will of the jazz tradition' (The Times). On December 6, Mehldau joins pianist Simone Dinnerstein, who has been praised for her 'majestic originality of vision' (The Independent) and 'arresting freshness and subtlety' (TIME), for an evening of musical conversations as part of her ongoing Neighborhood Classics series: hour-long, family-friendly concerts combine extraordinary music with reflections by Dinnerstein.

Pair of CAG Winners Awarded Avery Fisher Grants

Two Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition winners have been awarded Avery Fisher career grants, a cash prize given to young artists on the verge of major careers. This year grants of $25,000 are presented to violinists Alexi Kenney, Tessa Lark, and Sean Lee, cellist Jay Campbell, and pianist George Li.

Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) Executive Director Marc Uys returns to his musician roots at the PSO's Spring Chamber Concert Sunday, March 20 at 4:30 pm at the Institute for Advanced Study. Mr. Uys, harpist Bridget Kibbey, and soprano Mary Mackenzie will perform works by composer and former Princeton University professor Edward T. Announcing the Co-Directors of OpenICE and Launching the Second Season

With the launch of the second season of OpenICE, a multi-year program to engage new listeners for contemporary music through an outpouring of programming that is free and open to the public, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) announces the appointment of Ryan Muncy (ICE saxophonist) and Alice Teyssier (ICE flutist/vocalist) as the new Co-Directors of OpenICE. Muncy and Teyssier have been members of ICE since 2014 and, in addition to their musical roles, serve in the capacities of Director of Institutional Giving and Artistic Operations Associate, respectively.

Neighborhood Classics to Present Violinist Rachel Barton Pine, 11/18; 'Violin Invasion' Set for 11/17

?Neighborhood Classics presents celebrated violinist Rachel Barton Pine in concert on Tuesday, November 18 at 7pm at P.S. 321 in Brooklyn (180 Seventh Ave.). Pine will perform Bach's Sonata in G Minor and selections from Paganini's 24 Caprices, Op. 1, plus new works dedicated to her from New York composers Mohammed Fairouz (“For Egypt” from Sonata for Unaccompanied Violin Native Informant, from 2011) and Earl Maneein (Be12(OH)12(BTB)4 Metal Organic Framework, from 2014). The concert will be hosted by Neighborhood Classics Founder and Artistic Director Simone Dinnerstein. All ticket sales for this one-hour, family-friendly concert benefit P.S. 321.

Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Kicks Off 31st Season Today

This summer, the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival marks its 31st season in the beautiful seaside setting of Long Island's East End. The Island's longest-running classical music festival this year features 12 concerts from today, July 30 to August 24, featuring the signature mix of renowned and up-and-coming artists and classic and new music that has made it one of the most noteworthy summer music festivals in the country.
