The Irvington Town Hall Theater (ITHT) is excited to announce the inaugural year of its ITHT Stage Door Playwright Festival on November 11 and 12. A weekend of readings of original and diverse one-act plays by a varied line-up of outstanding writers, the festival will be broken up into four sessions (two on Saturday and two on Sunday), with each session featuring different playwrights. This festival will be a springboard for playwrights to get their work up on its feet, and a chance for ITHT audiences to participate in the process by talking with the writers and other industry professionals during a Q&A at the end of each session.

La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and Mccoy Rigby Entertainment present the second show of its 2017-2018 season, and the 40th anniversary of the iconic theatre, with Angela Ingersoll starring as Judy Garland in END OF THE RAINBOW by Peter Quilter, featuring musical direction by Jon Steinhagen and directed by Michael Matthews.

When The Simpsons predicted a President Trump in their episode "Bart to the Future" in 2000, it was more gag than guarantee. But comedy has a knack of getting at the truth via the path of least resistance. Now Brian Wallace's new parody, Trump's Island, for better or worse, is the newest example of punchline prophecy as it is the only new play that predicted the outcome of Election 2016.

Fireside Mystery Theatre will bring an old styled radio variety show to the Morris Museum this winter. "An Afternoon of Holiday Haunts" will be performed live on the Bickford Theatre stage on Sunday, December 4 at 3:00PM.

?Samovar Subway Ensemble has announced a Hollywood Fringe Festival production of The Gentrification Cycle, two short plays written by G.D. Kimble and directed by Christina Cigala. Jen Tries Vacation and Locomotive Repair in Three Easy Steps will feature (in alphabetical order) Jon Gentry, Emily McLeod, Suzan Mikiel, Adam Tomei, Brian Wallace, Claire Winters, and Allison Youngberg. There will be five performances at the Dorie Theatre @ The Complex in Hollywood - Friday 6/3 at 7:30pm (press preview); Thursday 6/9 at 9pm; Thursday 6/16 at 7pm; Thursday 6/23 at 10:30pm; and Friday 6/24 at 6:45pm. Total running time will be 70 minutes.

1996's mega hit British farce Cash on Delivery is an exceedingly hilarious romp through an unemployed man's out-of-control experiences with social security fraud. Written by Michael Cooney, son of well-known British actor/playwright Ray Cooney, the play builds an affecting series of misunderstandings, mistaken identities and all-out silliness that prevail when Eric Swan (Jim Mahoney) attempts to fraudulently kill off the people - out of guilt - whose government checks he has been collecting illegally. Now onstage at the El Portal, Ray Cooney has directed evenly and with dynamite pacing, guaranteeing fool-proof laughter with a terrific cast, through December 20 only.

World renown British actor/playwright Ray Cooney will be performing the zany farce Cash on Delivery, written by his son Michael Cooney, on the mainstage of the El Portal in Noho December 3-20.  Cooney performed Out of Order at the El Portal in 2001, and was a tremendous hit. In our conversation Cooney, who was bestowed the honor of OBE (Order of the British Empire) by the Queen, and wife Linda talk about the play, and among other topics, theatre and its importance in our world right now. Linda is a landscape painter and former actress, and her work will be exhibited in the El Portal lobby during the run of the play and on to January 1, 2016.

Broadway Sings for The Trevor Project Concert is tonight, Monday August 4th at The Metropolitan Room. Red Carpet Cocktail Hour begins at 9:00PM with the performance beginning shortly after. As part of their mission, Mildred's Umbrella puts on 'bold, innovative and fresh theatrical works,' and CARNIVAL ROUND THE CENTRAL FIGURE perfectly upholds this banner. The work is a cacophony of noise and events told in a seemingly stream-of-consciousness chronology as it leaps through time and place with the bat of an eye. Some parts occur 10 years prior to the central plot, while others occur simultaneously. In effect, Diana Amsterdam's writing and Jennifer Decker's directing creates a living, breathing fever dream or bizarre, almost surreal events that deal with how we cope with mortality and death.
