This spring, Arden Theatre Company will transform the F. Otto Haas stage into the sweltering streets of the New Orleans French Quarter.  Tennessee Williams' masterpiece A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE depicts a story of love, lust, and the memories we leave behind. The production, directed by Arden Artistic Director Terry Nolen, plays March 12 through April 12, 2020.  Reviewing press are invited to the 7PM performance on March 18.

Arden Theatre Company Celebrates August Wilson With Two Unique Productions In 2019

This winter and spring, the Arden Theatre Company in Philadelphia will celebrate the work of late playwright August Wilson with two productions that explore the genius of the iconic writer. Wilson's GEM OF THE OCEAN, the first installment of his decade-by-decade, ten-play chronicle, The American Century Cycle, begins performances on February 27, 2019 at the F. Otto Haas Stage. Starting on March 7, 2019, Wilson's autobiographical solo show, HOW I LEARNED WHAT I LEARNED, co-conceived by Todd Kreidler, will play the Bob and Selma Horan Studio Theatre at the Arden's Hamilton Family Arts Center.

Actors Trade Villain Roles Nightly In Philadelphia Artists' MARIA MARTEN

Philadelphia Artists' Collective will conclude their 2017-2018 season with Maria Marten, or, The Murder in the Red Barn, by Anonymous, from June 6 to June 24, 2018, at The Louis Bluver Theatre at The Drake. A tale of love, revenge and murder with a village idiot and the epitome of all villains, this show will make you boo, hiss, guffaw and cheer.  Dastardly deeds, family forgiveness and a Wanderer's curse all lead to one blisteringly ridiculous climax in the highest style of the Victorian melodramas. Only the highest of the low for PAC, Co-Founders Dan Hodge and Damon Bonetti will trade the roles of the fool and the villain each performance for a truly outrageous night in the theatre. Which will play the villain on opening night? Audiences can cast their vote and help decide ahead of the show. Maria Marten will be directed by Charlotte Northeast. The role of Maria will be played by PAC newcomer Victoria Aaliyah Goins, who has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, America's Got Talent, and The Voice.

The Who Was? Show is a laugh-out-loud, all-new Netflix Kids & Family comedy that tells the stories of famous historical figures from across the globe through improv, sketches, impersonations, music videos and animated shorts.  Based on the New York Times bestselling Who Was? book series, the Show is secretly educational, but also contains overt silliness, excessive falling down, really bad dancing, spit takes, double takes, far too many rat puppets and occasional flatulence!

Curio Theatre Company Continues Season With MARIE ANTOINETTE

Curio Theatre Company brings audiences into a modern look at one of history's most controversial figues. David Adjmi's Marie Antoinette kicks off 2018 for the West Philadelphia theatre. This contemporary take on the infamous French Queen runs February 14-March 10.  Directed by noted local director Brenna Geffers, this engaging story of excess, artifice, and revolution opens Friday, February 16 at 8 p.m. Most performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m. Industry Night is Monday, February 19 at 8 p.m.  All performances are held at Curio's home in the Calvary Center for Culture and Community at 4740 Baltimore Ave. Tickets cost $15-$30 and are available online www.curioutheatre.org or by phone at 215-921-8243.

In this contemporary take on the famed queen of France, Marie is a frivolous, extravagant prisoner of circumstance. As the revolution brews the people of France sour to the excess and artifice that define her life, placing her head firmly on the chopping block. In this dark and humorous tale, Marie consorts with kings, lovers, and the occasional sheep, while the chants of 'Libert , Egalit , Fraternit !' filling the streets grow ever louder.

Lantern Theater Company Presents the World Premiere of The Craftsman by Bruce Graham

Lantern Theater Company continues its 24th season with a world premiere production of The Craftsman by celebrated Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham. Commissioned and developed through the Lantern's New Works Initiative, Graham's new play spins a darkly ironic tale of ambition, genius, and deception. M. Craig Getting will direct a cast that includes Mary Lee Bednarek, Dan Hodge, Anthony Lawton, Brian McCann, Paul L. Nolan, and Ian Merrill Peakes. Lantern Theater Company announces complete casting for its upcoming 2017/18 season, which begins this week with the Philadelphia premiere of Red Velvet by Lolita Chakrabarti. The matches will take place Saturday, July 22 at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tickets to each show cost $25 for adults and $22 for students, seniors, and military with a valid ID.
