Soul Doctor, about the life and music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone, officially opened last night, August 15. Soul Doctor has music by Shlomo Carlebach, orchestrated and arranged for Broadway by Steve Margoshes (Smokey Joe's Cafe, The Who's Tommy), book and direction by Daniel S. The new Broadway musical Soul Doctor, about the life and music of Shlomo Carlebach and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone, opens tonight, Thursday, August 15 at 6:30pm, at Circle in the Square Theatre (1633 Broadway, entrance on 50th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue).

The new Broadway musical Soul Doctor, about the life and music of Shlomo Carlebach and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone, has announced its general rush ticket policy for all performances beginning with the first preview on Wednesday, July 17 at 8pm at Circle in the Square Theatre (1600 Broadway, entrance on 40th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue). The limited number of $30 general rush tickets will be available each day at the box office beginning at10am for that day's performance(s) only. Limit of 2 tickets per person, on a first-come / first-served basis. Soul Doctor will have its official opening on Thursday, August 15. The quirky and comic musical revue 'Awesomer & Awesomer!!!: The Songs of Phoebe Kreutz' returned for another run of performances at the Triad (158 W. 72nd St.) yesterday, September 17, with a second performance on September 23 at at 7pm. Check out photos from the concert below!

CAROLS FOR A CURE is the annual two-disc holiday CD compilation of original songs and holiday classics which benefits BC/EFA. These CDs boast the best voices from the worlds of Broadway, Off-Broadway and national tours. Broadway's Meredith Patterson, Emmy nominated Musical Director Rob Berman, and pianist Ross Patterson have been collaborating and developing material for Sweet Old Fashioned Girl since the summer of 2009. They will bring the concert to Birdland on March 15, 2010 at 7pm. Sweet Old Fashioned Girl promises to be a fresh and exciting evening of jazz standards. Drawing from childhood memories with her jazz percussionist father, Patterson's sound is lush and rich bringing together her musical theatre background with her jazz roots.
