Bradley Greenwald, Laurel Armstrong and More Set for C. at Theatre Latte Da

Theater Latte Da announced today the cast for C., book and lyrics by Bradley Greenwald, music by Robert Elhai. This musical adaptation of the play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand is being developed as part of NEXT: New Musicals in the Making, a major new work program to develop new musical theater in the Twin Cities.

WHEN THE MOON HITS YOUR EYE to Open Theater Latté Da's NEXT New Musicals Series, 4/12

Theater Latte Da announced today the line-up for the inaugural year of NEXT: New Musicals in the Making, a major new work program to develop new musical theater in the Twin Cities. NEXT opens with When the Moon Hits Your Eye, running April 12-14, followed by C., running April 19-21, and closes with Bessie's Birthday, running April 26-28, all performed at The Lab Theater in the Minneapolis Warehouse District.

RUBY! THE STORY OF RUBY BRIDGES Opens at SteppingStone Theatre Tonight

Fort Worth Opera Reveals 'Opera of the Americas' on KERA's THINK

During this special hour long, in-depth interview he discussed the recent announcement of the organization's new artistic vision, Opera of the Americas, a ten-year commitment to the production of thought-provoking works by contemporary composers of the Americas.

Children's Theatre Company Presents PINOCCHIO, 1/15-2/24

Greg Banks has created many highly-acclaimed adaptations for Children's Theatre Company (CTC) audiences, including Robin Hood, Huck Finn, and Romeo and Juliet. Banks returns to CTC to reimagine Carlo Collodi's classic Italian folk tale Pinocchio in what has potential to be the most invigorating theatrical event of the season. Banks' Pinocchio will feature four of the Twin Cities' most celebrated actors playing multiple roles. CTC's production of Pinocchio, like Collodi's story, will explore the magical moments when make-believe becomes real.

Jungle Theater’s IN THE NEXT ROOM Opens 11/2

For its 2012 season closer, the Jungle Theater presents the regional premiere of IN THE NEXT ROOM (or The Vibrator Play), one of Broadway's latest mega-hits. This 2010 Tony-nominated comedy about marriage, intimacy and electricity is directed by Sarah Rasmussen, who worked with playwright Sarah Ruhl (The Clean House, Eurydice) on the original Broadway production. Set in the Victorian era, just before corseted women shed their inhibitions, this funny, smart and provocative play concerns the early history of the vibrator, when doctors used it as a clinical device to treat women for "hysteria." In the Next Room opens November 2 and runs through December 16 at the Lyn-Lake theater at 2951 Lyndale Avenue S., in Minneapolis.

CTC is the industry leader in commissioning and producing plays by women specifically for young audiences, adding several strong young women to the canon of female protagonists. The opening play of the 2012-2013 Season brings a new feisty young lady to the stage to face seemingly insurmountable challenges. CTC will premiere the musical Buccaneers, written by Liz Duffy Adams with music by Ellen Maddow tonight, September 11 through October 21.

Children’s Theatre Company’s Announces its 47th Season

In a season set to celebrate "wonder," two world premiere productions, several classic tales, one larger-than-life swashbuckling pirate tale and the American premiere of the National Theatre of Great Britain's production of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat, Children's Theatre Company (CTC) today announces its 2012-2013 season.
