On September 25th, Theater Latte Da kicks off the 16th season at The Lab Theater in Minneapolis' historic warehouse district with the all new docu-musical Steerage Song by Peter Rothstein and Dan Chouinard. Tickets are now available here.

In the greatest wave of immigration in world history, Europeans left their homelands and sailed for America packed into the dark steerage of steamships. They carried few possessions but a wealth of hope, chutzpah and music. They spilled out onto Ellis Island and into the fertile squalor of New York's Lower East Side, a breeding ground for American Popular Song. Five years in the making, creators Peter Rothstein and Dan Chouinard have woven the melodies of old Europe and the new rhythms of Tin Pan Alley into a profoundly moving, new musical.

Steerage Song features an impressive ensemble including Sasha Andreev, Erin Capello, Dennis Curley, Bradley Greenwald, Jennifer Grimm, Megan Fisher, Alec Fisher, Jay Hornbacher and Natalie Nowytski.

They will be accompanied by some of Minnesota's finest instrumentalists, including Jim Price on violin and mandolin, Laura McKenzie on flutes and pipes, Brian Barnes on guitar and banjo, Dale Mendenhall on clarinet, and Music Director Dan Chouinard on accordion and piano.
