Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic have announced the appointment of Teng Li to the post of Principal Viola. Li assumes her duties in August 2018, during the Hollywood Bowl season. She comes to Los Angeles from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, where she served as principal violist since 2004.

City Springs Theatre, Atlanta's newest professional theatre company presents Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley in '42nd Street,' the ultimate Broadway musical, playing at the brand-new Byers Theatre at The Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center (1 Galambos Way, Sandy Springs) September 14th through the 23rd. Kinky Boots announce today that Emmy-nominated and two-time "Dancing with the Stars" champion Mark Ballas will take over the role of 'Charlie Price' in the Tony Award-winning musical beginning on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. He will play a limited run through Sunday, November 4, 2018. Ballas succeeds David Cook who will play his last performance on Sunday, September 9, 2018.

Mayor Emanuel and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) will honor 35 outstanding young artists selected for the city's 2018 Rising Star Honor Roll at a private reception tonight, August 8, at the Chicago Cultural Center. Recognized for their creative leadership and exceptional artistic talents, the young artists were nominated directly by their mentors from arts organizations, school arts programs and community organizations in the following areas: music, theatre, dance, visual arts, media arts, literary arts and culinary arts. San Diego Musical Theatre announced today the cast and creative team for its upcoming production of Hairspray. Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Book, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs. Music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, and book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. Hairspray will be directed by J. Scott Lapp (SDMT's First Date), with choreography by Jill Gorrie (SDMT's Singin' in the Rain, 42nd Street, Damn Yankees), and music direction by Don LeMaster. Hairspray runs August 3 - September 2, 2018 at the historic Horton Grand Theatre, with press opening on Saturday, August 4 at 8:00 PM.

 David Cook('American Idol' Winner, 7th Season) has returned to the role of 'Charlie Price' in the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots at the Al HirschfeldTheatre (302 West 45th Street) He will play a limited run through Sunday, September 9, 2018. Cook succeeds Tyler Glenn (lead singer of the multi-platinum rock band, Neon Trees) who played his last performance on Sunday, July 15, 2018.

Craig Hall directs the Canadian premiere of R. Hamilton Wright and David Pichette's new adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic Victorian whodunit The Hound of the Baskervilles. Twist after suspenseful twist will keep audiences on the edge of their seats until the final curtain. Tinged with the familiar Sherlockian wit, this deliciously dark thriller begins previews on August 1 at the Festival Theatre.

The Sherman Playhouse announces their cast for Steve Martin's The Underpants which opens September 21. The production is being directed by Dan Friedman of Carmel, NY. This will be Dan's first venture on the Playhouse boards.

NBC Sports Group's 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season continued this weekend with more than seven hours of trackside coverage from Pocono Raceway, in Long Pond, Pa. Coverage was highlighted by this afternoon's Gander Outdoors 400 on NBCSN, which sawKyle Busch and the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota take the checkered flag in overtime. The victory was Busch's sixth of the season.

The London Tap Dance Intensive is the UK's top tap festival, and took place from Friday to Sunday last week. Over the course of three days a variety of workshops were offered at three different studios; led by talented teachers from across the tap spectrum, they covered everything from rhythm choreography, partner work, call & response, and the crossover between tap and Irish dancing. The festival culminated in a gala performance last night, hosted by Adam Garcia and Kane D. Ricca - the ultimate showcase for the genre, with some mind-blowing routines performed by a selection of top dancers.

21CF Global Inclusion will begin its third annual Fox Directors Lab (FDL) program on the Fox Studio Lot in Los Angeles in August. FDL is a highly selective program designed to nurture experienced television directors who have diverse voices, backgrounds, and life experiences.  The goal of the program is to create a strong pipeline of well-rounded talent for potential staffing on Fox television series.

MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL, the hit musical celebration of the life and music of the original 1970s "Queen of Disco," Sylvester, returns to New York City August 11th, 2018. 

Take the journey! Casting has been announced for the North American tour of the critically-acclaimed Broadway production of ANASTASIA. This production features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a lush, new score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and direction by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak. The tour will launch at Proctors in Schenectady, NY on October 9, 2018 and will go on to play 30 cities in its first season.
