Bloomingdale School Of Music Presents Free Jazz Tribute to Leonard Bernstein

Bloomingdale School of Music (BSM) is pleased to present A Jazz Tribute to Leonard Bernstein as part of Leonard Bernstein at 100, the global celebration of one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century on Friday, June 1st at 7:00 pm. This free concert led by BSM faculty member pianist Zach Lapidus, and guest artists bassist Peter Brendler and drummer Aaron Seeber will be held at the school located at 323 West 108th Street. Seating is limited.   Join BSM piano faculty member Zach Lapidus as he performs jazz re-imaginings of Leonard Bernstein's music.

Brooklyn Music School Presents Struttin' With Some Barbecue, BMS Jazz Department Fundraiser

Brooklyn Music School (BMS) presents an afternoon of Burnin' Jazz and Hot Barbecue, Struttin' With Some Barbecue, a fundraiser for the BMS Jazz Department, on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 3pm at the Brooklyn Music School Playhouse, 126 Saint Felix Street, Brooklyn, NY. Tickets are $30 ($75 for family tickets) and can be purchased at https://struttin-with-some-bbq-bms-jazz-fundraiser.eventbrite.com. Titled after a composition by Louis Armstrong and Lilian Hardin, Struttin' With Some Barbecue will help support the rapidly blossoming Brooklyn Music School (BMS) Jazz Department. It's a chance to enjoy the down-home feel of southern food, swinging music, and jazz community that will make anyone think they've been transported straight to New Orleans, all the while helping support Jazz at BMS.

Kennedy Center Announces DEMO: NOW

Damian Woetzel continues his innovative interdisciplinary series uniting artists from across fields in a special one-night only performance, March 7 in the Terrace Theater. Part of the inaugural DIRECT CURRENT, the Kennedy Center's two-week celebration of contemporary culture, this installment of the multi-genre series will present recently commissioned works, including a world premiere, and Washington, D.C. premieres by some of today's most creative and groundbreaking voices in dance and music.

Recording Academy Member Gussie Miller Releases Debut Album 'Forever Plan' on CD Ahead of NAMM 2018

In time for the 2018 National Association of Music Merchant (NAMM) 2018 tradeshow in Anaheim, singer songwriter Gussie Miller has released his debut album 'Forever Plan' on CD. The album had previously been available on streaming services only, earning the distinction of being one of the first 'digital only CDs' to appear on the Grammy ballot in the history of The Recording Academy. In conjunction with the release of the CD, Miller who has collaborated with artists including Cher, Seal, Gino Vannelli, Lavern Baker, Cher, Marcus Miller, Keb' Mo', Cleto Escobedo, Jay Gore and Mindi Abair is preparing to release his second album's single 'Sunshine,' for 2019 Grammy consideration.

Tucson Jazz Festival Announces Sheila E., Arturo Sandoval and More

Thousands of jazz fans from Phoenix, Tucson and all across the country will converge on Tucson as the city welcomes the 4th annual jazz festival this January. Attendance is expected to hit 20,000, making the festival one of the major jazz destinations in the country.

All-Star SFJAZZ Collective Tribute to Miles Davis Concludes Miller Theatre's Jazz Series, 4/1

Some of the biggest names on the jazz circuit-including Miller audience favorites Warren Wolf and Miguel Zenon-come together to form the inimitable collective SFJAZZ. This touring program celebrates one of the genre's greats: Miles Davis. The band's explorations of this rich repertoire make it feel fresh once more, as revelatory and innovative as it sounded when Miles issued his first records back in the 1940s and 50s. 

Richmond Jazz Society and Virginia Rep to Present ELLA AT 100 This April

The Richmond Jazz Society and Virginia Repertory Theatre announce Ella at 100, April 25, 2017, 7:00 P.M. at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street. This momentous evening of jazz will celebrate the 100th birthday of Ella Fitzgerald, a Newport News native. Hundreds of events are taking place around the world to celebrate her legacy this spring. The Richmond event falls on Fitzgerald's actual birthday.

Centenary Stage Company Poised to Melt Away the Winter with January THAW MUSIC FESTIVAL.

Centenary Stage Company plans to heat things up this winter with their annual January Thaw Music Festival.  This year's features three exciting performances during the month of January in the Sitnik Theater of the Lackland Performing Arts Center.  The festival includes;The HooDoo Loungers on Saturday, January 14 at 8pm; Sweet Plantain Quartet on Saturday, January 28 at 8pm and 3hree for Louis: A Tribute to Louis Armstrong on Sunday, January 22 at 2pm.
