With a goal of topping last year's record-breaking $5.25 million dollars raised in its ongoing battle against Parkinson's disease, LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST 2017: The Beat Goes On, presented by the Asbury Park Press, the 17th anniversary edition of the anchor event for the world-renowned Light of Day Foundation, will bring over 150 music acts to 30 venues over 10 days in three New Jersey cities, New York City, and Philadelphia, in January, following holiday season tours of Europe and Canada.

New Jersey power pop legends THE SMITHEREENS will be bringing a string section and horn section to headline Bob's Birthday Bash, the sold-out all-star anchor event of LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST 2016 of the Light of Day Foundation's 'Sweet Little 16' anniversary celebration in its global battle to defeat Parkinson's disease and the Parkinsonisms in our lifetime 'through the awesome power of music.'

The Asbury Park portion of LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST 2016, where the bulk of the action will occur, is being held today, Jan. 8, through Jan. 18, 2016 at such fabled rock venues as the Paramount Theater, the Stone Pony, and the Wonder Bar, among others.

LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST 2016 season officially kicks offtoday with a special one-hour block of programming on Sirius XM's E Street Radio (Channel 20), and further north, the launch of Light of Day Canada. It's the start of this year's campaign to raise money and awareness for Parkinson's disease and related neuro-degenerative diseases through 'the awesome power of music.'

New York City's role in the Light of Day Foundation's global battle against Parkinson's Disease is expanding significantly for the 15th anniversary LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST 2015 with the addition of the NYC COMEDY CLUB CRAWL FUNDRAISER, led by the first comedian to publicly state he is fighting and beating Parkinson's disease, RICK SHAPIRO, and very special guests ARTIE LANGE and JIM GAFFIGAN, TOMORROW, Tuesday, Jan. 13 at three of Manhattan's top comedy venues.

Billboard Magazine honored Bob Benjamin and the Light of Day Foundation with the Humanitarian Award last night at the 2014 Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, honoring the concert industry's top artists, venues and professionals of the year. The 11th annual event was held at the Edison Ballroom in New York City and also featured an appearance by Lionel Richie to accept the Legend of Live Award, and a rousing performance by Kool & the Gang to close out the evening.
