New York Live Arts presents Big Dance Theater's (BDT) Ich, Kurbisgeist, today, October 31 - November 2, andNovember 5 - 9 at 7:30pm, and November 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 10:00pm, as part of its signature program, the Replay Series. An 'impressively inscrutable' (The New York Times) work directed by Paul Lazar, co-directed and choreographed by Annie-B Parson and written by Sibyl Kempson, a playwright of works 'authentic, appealing, and...thrill[ing]' (Village Voice), Ich Kurbisgeist returns to the stage just in time for Halloween.

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) and Brooklyn's 651 ARTS partner together to present a dynamic conversation between Legendary dancer/choreographer Bill T. Jones and internationally renowned dancer, choreographer Gregory Vuyani Maqoma that falls inline with NBT's 45th Season of 'Moving the Legacy Forward.' The conversation will happen tonight, October 29, 2013 at 7PM.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, popular and influential songwriter and guitarist Lou Reed, most known for forming Velvet Underground has died at 71 according to Rolling Stone. No cause of death was revealed, but it's been noticed that the performer received a liver transplant back in May of 2013. BroadwayWorld remembers Reed with photos below.

Ruben Santiago-Hudson & Marlo Hunter Take Home Callaway Awards

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) proudly reveals this season's Joe A. Callaway Award winners for Direction and Choreography from more than 200 eligible productions in the 2012 - 2013 New York City theatre season. This year's awards will be presented to Ruben Santiago-Hudson for his direction of The Piano Lesson produced by Signature Theatre and Marlo Hunter for her choreography of Unlock'd produced by Prospect Theater Company. The winners join previous Joe A. Callaway Award Winners including Susan Stroman (1991), Harold Prince (1993), Julie Taymor (1996), Jack O'Brien (2001), Bartlett Sher (2002), Daniel Sullivan (2004), John Tiffany (2012) and Steven Hoggett (2012).

Bill T. Jones, Elizabeth Streb, Majora Carter & Laura Flanders Set for RISKY TALKING Panel at SLAM, 11/1

What do you get when you put urban activist Majora Carter, action architect Elizabeth Streb and legendary choreographer Bill T. Jones in the same room as broadcaster/ interviewer Laura Flanders? I'm not sure either but I know I want to be in that room. And I know there will definitely be some Risky Talking.
