Ojai Playwrights Conference has announced 11 playwrights for the 25th Anniversary New Works Festival taking place August 7-14, 2022, in Ojai, CA, marking a return to in-person workshops and live performances after two years of working online.

Ojai Playwrights Conference announced the founding of the Robert H. Egan Legacy Fund at their 25th Anniversary Benefit Gala on June 4, 2022. Honoring the work of outgoing Artistic Director/Producer Robert Egan, the fund will support visionary OPC New Works Festival playwrights who are creating challenging new plays and imagining a better future for all. Egan leaves his role at OPC at the end of this year.

Following the recent announcement of Guy Masterson and Bill Cain's 9 Circles at Park Theatre, the company have announced Daniel Bowerbank as the final cast member to join the cast.

From House of Cards writer Bill Cain and The Shark is Broken director Guy Masterson, the European premiere of 9 Circles is based on a true story of a repatriated US Army Private accused of war crimes. In a psychological thriller told through the eyes of the accused, 9 Circles asks how a soldier can be trained as a cold-blooded killing machine while clinging on to the threads of his humanity.

On June 4, 2022, the Ojai Playwrights Conference will celebrate 25 successful seasons with a Benefit Gala to be directed and produced by OPC Artistic Director/Producer Robert Egan at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles.

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company will return to the stage for its 2022-2023 season with three plays that celebrate the resilience of the human spirit, our need for creative self-expression, and the never-ending desire for emotional connection.

Dame Maureen Lipman and an adaptation of a Christopher Isherwood novel will appear on the Park200 stage in two shows announced for Park Theatre's Summer to Autumn season. Remy Bumppo Theatre Company has announced Marti Lyons as artistic director. Lyons assumes this role effective immediately. Lyons was selected after a national search led by ALJP Consulting, with a search committee composed of select staff, Core Ensemble members, Board members and representatives of the local community.

Based in Falmouth, MA, the Cape Cod Theatre (CCTP), develops new plays for the American Theatre, and this year we will develop our 100th play.  From July 1 - 24 watch four exciting playwrights bring new work that explores birth, death, identity, hidden secrets and far-reaching love.

Ojai Playwrights Conference (OPC) will be presenting their virtual celebration CONNECTIONS benefiting their 2021 season June 12, 2021. CONNECTIONS will feature new or adapted works by playwrights: Luis Alfaro, Jon Robin Baitz, Father Greg Boyle, Bill Cain, Culture Clash, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Danai Gurira, Samuel D. Hunter, David Henry Hwang, Julia Izumi, James Morrison and his son Seamus Morrison, Jeanine Tesori and Charlayne Woodard. Performers include Brian Cox, Eileen Galindo, Tzi Ma, Rose Portillo, Samantha Quan, John C. Reilly, Israel López Reyes, Nikkole Salter, Jimmy Smits, and Phillipa Soo; as well as some of the playwrights performing their own pieces.

The Cape Cod Theatre Project (CCTP) continues to bring extraordinary playwriting talent to the Cape this July with Season 27, featuring its 100th play. The season will once again be presented in an all-virtual format with a mix of emerging and established playwrights. This year, CCTP welcomes new and in-progress works by Bill Cain, Amy Evans, Selina Fillinger and Mike Lew who explore themes of identity, hidden secrets, far-reaching love, as well as birth and death.

The Ojai Playwrights Conference is presenting “Connections,” a virtual celebration to benefit the OPC 2021 season, on Saturday, June 12 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time/ 8 p.m. Eastern Time. A minimum donation of $20 is requested to watch this special 90-minute show.
