After a triumphant run Off-Broadway, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES returns home to Southern California, in its Musical Theatre West premiere!

The Gretna Theatre has announced their 2010 summer season. Productions will include Nunsense starring Sally Struthers, The Marvelous Wonderettes, The Will Rogers Follies, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Peter Pan, Mr. Hobbs' Vacation, and Mame. The season will begin with Nunsense, opening June 3rd.

The Marvelous Wonderettes opened last week to standing ovation after standing ovation! This fun filled show brings you to Springfield High's Super Senior prom in 1958 where Missy, Suzy, Betty Jean and Cindy Lou entertain you with classic songs like Lollipop, Mr. Sandman, Allegheny Moon, Teacher's Pet and so many more!! Plus, the audience gets to vote for the prom queen! The Wonderettes play the Golden Apple Dinner Theatre until February 21.

At Birdland on Sunday night, the super-group LIMBSAKIMBO followed up their summer tribute to Marvin Gaye with an exploration and reevaluation of the poetry, intellect, and mystery of Joni Mitchell.

Tony Award winner Hinton Battle will helm the Gem Theatre's production of 'The Marvelous Wonderettes' which is slated to open February 3, 2010. The cast will feature Gretchen Bieber, Holly Davis, Marley DelDuchetto and Laura Hall.

Jim Caruso's Cast Party is proud to present the newly-formed band, LIMBSAKIMBO in 'Court And Spark,' at Birdland on Sunday, January 31st at 6pm. The concert will be part of the award-winning series Broadway at Birdland.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA-With the holidays upon us, the arrival of aptly-themed shows also permeate the theatrical landscape. And like tinsel, egg-nog and Santa, perennial traditions are still what most people crave, especially in these unknowing, unstable times. Hummable, familiar holiday tunes are always a crowd-pleaser, so it's no surprise that WINTER WONDERETTES (now playing at the Laguna Playhouse through December 30) delivers a pleasantly cheerful, though altogether a routine, by-the-numbers, jukebox musical. Tied neatly with a pretty bow, the show is packaged precisely to induce just the right amount of laughs and to entertain enough to fill its audience with yuletide giddiness, without bombarding us with pesky heavy themes or intrusive thought-provoking lessons. Much like the show that preceded it, the holiday-themed sequel to Roger Bean's off-Broadway hit The Marvelous Wonderettes is cute, adorable, cheery and exactly the kind of safe, holiday entertainment that is as tried and true as its music. It is by no means a groundbreaking piece of theater, but judging from the laughter and ovations bestowed by its opening night audience, this show certainly entertains.
