Segerstrom Center welcomes emerging vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant in four powerful performances this weekend, November 14 & 15 in Samueli Theater and will be accompanied by virtuoso pianist/composer Aaron Diehl.

The 'Jazz in the Sky' concert series at the Ware Center of Millersville University, which brings to Lancaster the most outstanding local and regional jazz artists in performance, will present jazz vocalist JD Walter in concert in the center's newly renamed Harvey Worth Owen III Grand Salon tonight, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.

BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the longest operating performance venue in lower Manhattan, presents Peter Cincotti, performing tonight, October 25 at 8PM, the first of four major concerts in the 2014-2015 Main Event Series, which also includes the Spanish Harlem Orchestra (November 21 at 8PM, $45 - $35) and The Hit Men (December 13 at 8PM, $45 - $35). Also featured are Alexis P. Suter (January 9 at 8PM, $45 - $35), and Ruthie Foster (May 8 at 8PM, $45 - $35), among others.

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre kicks off its 45th season with Karima's Accept 'Except' LGBT NY, which will begin performances October 23rd and continue through November 23rd with opening night set for November 6th. Tony Award winner George Faison directs a cast that features Tuluv Maria Price and Tyree Young. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is seeking nominations for the 2015 Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Awards -a series of annual grants that recognize inspiring teachers in any field of education across the United States. Now entering their fifth year, the awards were created in honor of Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday in 2010. The program was initiated and funded through the generous support of arts philanthropists and friends of Mr. Sondheim, Freddie and Myrna Gershon.

Pete Douglas, founder of the world-renowned music and jazz club, the Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society in Half Moon Bay, Calif., died peacefully in Miramar Beach on July 12, 2014 at age 85.

RON RIFKIN, whose performance as Isaac Geldhart in the original production of The Substance of Fire earned him critical accolades as well as the Obie, Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, and Drama-Logue awards, will step into the role for five performances only, May 20 - 23, at Second Stage Theatre. The production's current star, JOHN NOBLE, is unable to perform those performances due to an unforeseen conflict with the filming schedule for his Fox series, Sleepy Hollow. Mr. Noble is scheduled to return for the final weekend of performances, May 24 and 25.
