Signature Theatre has confirmed casting for the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Quiara Alegria Hudes' DAPHNE'S DIVE, featuring a slew of stage and screen stars.

Timeline Theatre Company's Chicago premiere of Leigh Fondakowski's documentary-style SPILL aims to show audiences the untold side of the story surrounding the April 2010 blowout and subsequent explosion of the Deepwater Horizon, a BP oil rig, in the Gulf of Mexico. The resulting oil spill was the worst in United States history, leaching nearly 5 million barrels of oil into the Gulf, leaving thousands of oiled animals for dead, and disrupting the livelihoods of many who relied on the body of water for fishing. Fondakowski's play aims to accomplish what great theater should: the interweaving of the personal and political. The play shows the human side of a widely publicized issue that audiences may previously have held at a distance. And Fondakowski, a member of the Tectonic Theater Project and the head writer on THE LARAMIE PROJECT, wisely and movingly devotes a good amount of SPILL's material to a lesser-known consequence of this devastating environment event: the lives of the 11 men who were taken in the explosion. These men were fathers, sons, siblings, and husbands who had inherently risky careers - but in the wake of the BP oil rig explosion and subsequent spill, they were soon forgotten by the mass media.

Benjamin (Wicked, Chicago), Scott Mikita (Phantom of the Opera), and Joe Ricci (A View from the Bridge), joined by Rachid Sabitri, from today, August 8 through August 31 in Stony Point, New York.

The Flea Theater will present the limited Off-Broadway engagement of FAMILY FURNITURE by A.R. Gurney. It is directed by Tony Award nominee Thomas Kail (In The Heights) starring Carolyn McCormick (Law & Order), Peter Scolari (Girls, Newhart, Bosom Buddies), and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies) with newcomers Ismenia Mendes and Molly Nordin. Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) kicks off the 2013 Uptown Series with the world premiere of The Tutors, written by Erica Lipez and directed by Thomas Kail. The Tutors will feature Louis Ozawa Changchien ( Second Stage's Warrior Class), Matt Dellapina (The Dream Of The Burning Boy), Aubrey Dollar ('Guiding Light'), Keith Nobbs (Lombardi) and Chris Perfetti (Picnic). Previews begin on May 22nd and opening night is Wednesday, June 5th.

Filipino musical creators Romeo Candido and Carmen de Jesus' PRISON DANCER, a new musical loosely based on the five-year-old viral video featuring the dancing inmates of Cebu, Philippines' Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, won Excellence in Choreography for its director and choreographer, Jenn Rapp; Outstanding Ensemble Performance for its all-Filipino cast led by Broadway actors Jose Llana, Catherine Ricafort, and Albert Guerzon; and Outstanding Individual Performance for Filipino Canadian actor Jeigh Madjus, who plays Lola, a cross-dresser who teaches his fellow convicts how to dance, at the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival's Awards for Excellence ceremony held last night at Hudson Terrace.
