Summer can officially begin in Sacramento! Broadway at Music Circus kicks off its new season on June 11 with Shrek the Musical. Shrek brings something for the entire family to enjoy and is the perfect accompaniment to PRIDE month with its message of inclusion. As one of the Fairytale Creatures says, 'It's time to stop the hiding. It's time to stand up tall.' Jennifer Leigh Warren, who plays Dragon, wholeheartedly agrees. She was last seen in multiple roles on television in 'Rent Live!' in January. She spoke to Broadway World Sacramento about the importance of the show, her role as a lonely puppet, and her impressive career.

Casting has been confirmed for the 69th Broadway At Music Circus season, which begins June 11 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The season includes four Broadway At Music Circus premieres, Shrek the Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Wiz, and In the Heights.

Great Lakes Theater (GLT), Cleveland's Classic Company, concludes its 2018-19 season with the Tony-winning rock 'n' roll tribute, Million Dollar Quartet. The production will be performed in the company's intimate home at the Hanna Theatre, Playhouse Square, May 3-26, 2019. GLT's production of Million Dollar Quartet will feature a number of Broadway actors from shows such as Monty Python's Spamalot, Hello Dolly!, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Anything Goes and more playing the iconic quartet and supporting roles. Tony-Winning Broadway star, Hunter Foster, directs.

The evening takes place Monday, March 11 at 6:30pm at The Current, Pier 59 @ Chelsea Piers, and includes a cocktail party, seated dinner, performances, dessert reception, and silent and live auctions. The Transporting American Theatre Award recognizes significant contributions to the American Theatre. The York Theatre Company as part of its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series will present a staged reading of the new musical In the Theatre with book by Joan Ross Sorkin (The Black Swan) and music and lyrics by Steven Fisher (The Little Dancer). In the Theatre will play two performances only on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's.

Now entering its 56th season, the New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) is launching a Musical Theater Composition (MTC) program, to be led by newly-appointed director Anna K. Jacobs. In a partnership with the Harlem School of the Arts, this new program aims to diversify the world of musical theater by creating opportunities for young composers to have their compositions workshopped and performed by both peers and professionals.

Actors' Equity Association, the union which represents more than 51,000 professional stage actors and stage managers, announced the results of the 2018 National Council election.  In total, 55 Council seats across all three regions and representing three (3) categories (principal actor, chorus actor and stage manager) were filled, effective immediately.

Tony Award winning choreographer and director George Faison (The Wiz) presented Andre De Shields, a two-time Tony nominee, Drama Desk nominee, Emmy winner and multi-Audelco Award and Outer Critics Circle Award winner, with the 2018 Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award at the 33rd Annual Bistro Awards Gala, held at Gotham Comedy Club in New York on March 12th. De Shields received the Bistro Awards' highest honor for his five decades of stage and nightclub accomplishments.
