After a season of thrilling and diverse programming,The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. (Linda Shelton, Executive Director), New York City's premier presenter of dance, proudly kicks off its 2018-2019 Fall/Winter Season with the return of the wildly popular NY Quadrille, which had its debut in the fall of 2016. The three-week engagement, performed in a transformed Joyce Theater performance space, is conceived and curated by famed choreographer Lar Lubovitch, and features works by some of today's most acclaimed and celebrated choreographers/companies including John Jasperse Projects, Kyle Abraham's A.I.M, former Merce Cunningham dancers Rashaun Mitchell + Silas Riener, Donna Uchizono Company, and Beth Gill.

This Spring/Summer 2018, the talent performing at New Hope's RRazz Room at The Clarion is a diverse mix of world class artists. There is something for all entertainment tastes at the intimate and comfortable Rrazz Room New Hope, located within the Clarion Inn & Suites. Since opening the Rrazz Room space in New Hope in November of 2013, the venue has presented legendary artists who have brought patrons to their feet nightly. New York Live Arts presents the world premiere of Bessie Award winner Joanna Kotze's What will we be like when we get there, a new interdisciplinary dance performance with long-time collaborators dancer/choreographer Netta Yerushalmy, visual artist Jonathan Allen, and composer/musician Ryan Seaton. What will we be like when we get there will premiere at New York Live Arts March 28-31, 2018, 7:30 PM. In conjunction with the performance, an exhibition, Knowing that your House is on Fire in the lobby of New York Live Arts, will feature new works by visual artist, Jonathan Allen. Leading contemporary choreographers will premiere site-specific performances in a new dance series at the Rubin Museum of Art, presented in partnership with the arts organization Pentacle. For “Suspending Time,” Beth Gill, Zvi Gotheiner, Raja Feather Kelly, and nora chipaumire have each created a work connected to the Rubin's exhibitions and 2018 theme, “The Future.” The twenty minute performances will take place on four Wednesday evenings in March and April, each in a different gallery within the Museum.

Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, the nation's preeminent arts summer day camp, today announced its new Choreographic Institute, an innovative new program launching in Summer 2018. Students in the inaugural Choreographic Institute will be taught by some of the most visionary choreographers today including Brian Brooks, Beth Gill, and Angie Pittman. Open via application and geared towards those with a passion for choreography and dance making, the seven-week program will act as an incubator for young dancemakers who want to expand and develop their choreographic voices.

Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc., announced today that Aaron Mattocks will take over as Director of Programming, effective February 1, 2018. Mattocks replaces Martin Wechsler, who stepped down at the end of 2017 after 32 years at The Joyce, 22 of those as Director of Programming, helping to transform the organization into the world's leading presenter of dance.

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents an encore of choreographer Jodi Melnick's sold-out 2016 commission, NEW BODIES. This Works & Process commissioned work weaves together dance, spoken text, and moderated discussion with live music, featuring New York City Ballet dancers Jared Angle, Sara Mearns, and Taylor Stanley in a role originated by Gretchen Smith, with harpsichord by composer Gy rgy Ligeti, violin by composer Heinrich Biber, and commissioned music by Robert Boston.Also, Melnick, who enjoyed a performance career with Twyla Tharp (among many others), will perform One of Sixty-Five Thousand Gestures, a solo work created in collaboration with the late Trisha Brown.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of the 2017 award recipients tonight at the 33rd annual Bessie Awards ceremony. Awards were presented in the categories of Outstanding Production, Outstanding Revival, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition/Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design, with additional awards presented for Lifetime Achievement in Dance and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance. Pig Iron Theatre Company, the internationally acclaimed, Philadelphia-based organization, has announced that the world premiere of its ambitious, timely production A Period of Animate Existence will take place September 22-24 at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Pennsylvania in the 2017 Fringe Festival, co-presented by FringeArts and Annenberg Center Live.

The SCHONBERG (BOSTON) FELLOWS is a pilot mentored residency initiative that connects The Yard to the professional dance community of Boston, created in partnership (and appreciation) with the Arts and Culture Program of The Boston Foundation, the city's community trust. The Yard´s Chloe Jones and David R. White have curated the 2017 group of artists, looking both at early choreographic achievement and future creative potential. Peter DiMuro, McKersin Previlus, and the duo of Claire Johannes and Jordan Jamil Ahmed are the first wave of dedicated artists to take the plunge. Old friend and acclaimed David Parker, the Boston-bred choreographer/singer/percussive dancer who leads The Bang Group (TapTheYard; Nut/Cracked), is the mentoring ghost in the machine.

Abrons Arts Center's 2017-18 season, the first season to be curated by new Artistic Director Craig Peterson, celebrates the idea that a community is a place of intersecting ideas and action. Peterson believes that artists push society forward in ways that challenge our assumptions, politics and social welfare; that artists make room for voices that are too often silenced or sidelined. Gun violence, gentrification, immigration, income and power inequality, freedom, gender, and race are just some of the social issues artists are grappling with this season.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, today announced the nominees for the 2016?17 season at the Bessies press conference. The nominees were selected by the Bessie Awards Selection Committee, an independent committee of 38 dance industry professionals. Bessie Award categories include Outstanding Production, Outstanding Revived Work, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition or Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design. The list of nominations follows.
