Soul-rock, Austin-based musician Jonathon Zemek premieres the new single 'Death of Me' from the multimedia project 'Hillcrest' today with Glide Magazine. The premiere can be found here. 'Death of Me' is the second single off 'Hillcrest,' and features Matt Smith, the album's producer, on vocals. 'Hillcrest' is a rock opera with an accompanying comic book depicting a fictional coming of age story penned by Zemek and Smith. The project will be released Sept. 21, 2018, premiering at the Wizard World Austin pop culture convention (taking place Sept. 21-23 and located at the Austin Convention Center). At Wizard World Austin, people can meet Zemek and see and purchase the comic book as well as the album. 'Hillcrest' features Guy Forsyth, Malford Milligan, Matt Smith, Andrea Lindzeyand Roderick Sanford who lend their voices to characters in the story of 'Hillcrest,' while the book is illustrated by local street artist Chris Rogers. A new play, Just My TYPE - The Musical, about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment, explores how the four pairs of personality traits affect one's loves and life. Four couples are chosen to illustrate what happens when opposites mate. The script is based on Type Talk (1988) and 16 Ways to Love Your Lover (1994) by Otto Krueger and Janet Thuesen.

On Sunday evening, 54 Below celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the musical Grand Hotel on Broadway in high style with two performances crackling with energy and featuring a talented roster of performers including 13 from the original cast. Splendidly Directed (and Written) by Walter Willison, with Musical Direction by Alex Rybeck, Bass Accompaniment from Ray Kiddain, and Dance Supervision by Yvonne Marceau, the delicious production (one really can't call it a concert despite lack of dialogue) was fluid, polished, and imaginative in its use of the room. From leads to the chorus, voices were strong, commitment thorough. In the audience, Tommy Tune must've had a helluva time. We did.
