The Spire Center for Performing Arts in Plymouth, Massachusetts has revealed three new shows, including Total Strangers and more. See the lineup and learn how to purchase tickets.
After more than three years, the store will re-open its third floor Rare Book Room to visitors. The space will be open June 24–26 from 10:00am–6:00pm, and will be occupied with bookseller recommendations made specially for the occasion plus all newly acquired rare book stock for purchase. On display will be a selection of artifacts from Strand's 96-year history as well. Saturday, June 24 at 2:00pm staff will present their own writings at a Bookseller Salon.
This year, to help continue the crusade against banning books, Strand's Indie Bookstore Day will be hosted by the store's drag queen friends! Kendall Knight, Lana Del Trey, and Bertha Vanayshun will headline the day's celebration. Programming includes a family friendly story hour for kids as well as a literary themed drag variety show in the Rare Book Room in the evening.
Shakespeare in Clark Park is bringing a night of raucous comedy to Clark Park from July 27th to July 31st at 7pm, with The Taming! a comedy in two very different acts. The Taming! pairs Shakespeare’s problematic masterpiece, The Taming of the Shrew, with a community-created adaptation of John Fletcher’s Elizabethan revenge play, The Tamer Tamed.
