Artistic Director of Nottingham Playhouse, Giles Croft, has today revealed plans for the fiftieth anniversary of its iconic building, which was opened by Lord Snowdon on 11 December 1963 under the leadership of John Neville, Frank Dunlop and Peter Ustinov. Reflecting the rich array of work produced there over the last half century, this year's programme contains the wide range of ambitious and high quality drama that has established The Playhouse as one of the leading regional theatres in the UK.

Ryan Gage returns to the West End to star in American Justice, British playwright Richard Vergette's searing political thriller about guilt and redemption in America's deep south. Set during the eight years of an Obama administration, when idealism and forgiveness may not be all they seem, the play opens at The Arts Theatre in January 2013. American Justice has won plaudits from critics and audiences alike throughout the UK. Lisa Forrell will direct a new version of the play for the West End premiere.

Driving Miss Daisy, currently on tour until December 2012, will extend its national tour to April 2013 due to popular demand. The critically acclaimed production, presented by Julian Stoneman Associates, in association with Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, follows sell-out runs on Broadway and in the West End. Driving Miss Daisy is the Pulitzer prize-winning play by Alfred Uhry and this production stars Gwen Taylor as Daisy Werthan, Don Warrington as Hoke Coleburn and Ian Porter as Boolie Werthan.
