This work-in-progress takes place in a state of existence between death and rebirth; as Baldwin chronicles seminal events from his life.

Clare Cook, founder of Basin Arts in Lafayette, has been selected to participate in the Hamilton Project Residency at Barn Arts Collective in Bass Harbor, Maine July 6-15. While in Maine, she will be researching and developing a project titled Surface, an excerpt of which will be performed by Basin Dance Collective at the 2018 Arts Summit on July 24 in Baton Rouge (https://www.artsbr.org/2018-arts-summit/). The full-length version of Surface will premiere Nov. 28-30 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announces details for the second annual National Take a Stand Festival (July 5 to 14, 2018) and the sixth annual Take a Stand Symposium (July 13 and 14, 2018) in Los Angeles. The National Take a Stand Festival is an unprecedented initiative, launched in 2015 with the mission of creating a unified national platform for U.S. programs inspired by and aligned with El Sistema, the visionary Venezuelan program that nurtured LA Phil Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel. The Festival culminates with performances from two national youth orchestras comprised of students from El Sistema-inspired and aligned programs from across the U.S., with conductors including Gustavo Dudamel and Michael Morgan, in a concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall on July 14.

With a book by Charles Randolph-Wright, Bebe Winans, and Lisa D'Amour, and original music and lyrics by Winans, the majority of which were written for the show, BORN FOR THIS offers a longitudinal view of the Winans journey from music biz hopeful, to fledgling performer, to breakout R&B star, and award-winning (six Grammys) artist. Under the slick direction of Randolph-Wright and music director Steven Jamail, the cast is extraordinary from top to bottom, with Donald Webber Jr. and Loren Lott giving star turns as Bebe and Cece.
The British Museum lent 2,200 objects to 81 venues outside the UK from Toledo, Ohio to Hobart, Australia. In November, India and the World, a history in nine stories opened at CSMVS in Mumbai. Supported by the Getty Foundation and Tata Trusts, this is the first exhibition of its kind, a collaborative partnership between CSMVS, the National Museum of Delhi and the British Museum. Indian objects were selected from collections across India and the British Museum provided global objects to show the interconnectivity of India to the world throughout the centuries. The exhibition received over 200,000 visitors in Mumbai and has recently opened in Delhi.
