The 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards, hosted by Michael Urie, were held at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street) tonight, June 4th.

Junkyard Dog Productions announced today that the critically acclaimed new musical COME FROM AWAY, which is nominated for 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical, won 5 Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Musical and 4 Helen Hayes Awards including Outstanding Musical Production, and is nominated for 9 Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical and the Drama League Award for Best Musical, will launch a North American Tour across the United States and Canada at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre in October 2018. COME FROM AWAY, which has been playing to standing room only audiences, features a book, music and lyrics by two-time Tony Award nominees and Outer Critics Circle Award winners Irene Sankoff & David Hein, direction by two-time Tony Award nominee and Outer Critics Circle winnerChristopher Ashley (Memphis), musical staging by two-time Tony Award nominee Kelly Devine (Rocky), and music supervision by Ian Eisendrath (A Christmas Story).

Awards season continues! Just yesterday Drama Desk nominees gathered at the New York Marriott Marquis Manhattan Ballroom to meet for the first time. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the special occasion and we're bringing you portraits of nominees from the creative categories below!

With great excitement, Seattle Repertory Theatre celebrates the multiple Tony Award, Drama Desk, Outer Critics, and Drama League Award nominations of the world-premiere production Come From Away, now playing the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway.

La Jolla Playhouse has announced that the world-premiere, Playhouse-born productions of Come From Away, featuring book, music and lyrics by David Hein and Irene Sankoff and direction by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, and Indecent, by Paula Vogel, have both received multiple Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Obie and Lucille Lortel Award nominations for their subsequent Broadway and/or Off-Broadway productions this season.

Earlier this morning, Laura Benanti (She Loves Me, Gypsy) and Javier Muñoz (Hamilton, In the Heights) announced the nominations for the 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards.

COME FROM AWAY is a story that touches on many lives, but a select few in particular. For the most part, the characters represent a collection of individuals, but one character in particular is based on a remarkable woman. Jenn Colella portrays Beverley Bass, a female pilot and an all-around pioneer.

In Broadway by Design, BroadwayWorld will be shining a spotlight on the stellar designs of this Broadway season, show by show. Today, we continue the series with Beowulf Boritt and Toni-Leslie James , who acted as scenic and costume designers for Broadway's big story about a small town, COME FROM AWAY.

The Canadian-written new musical COME FROM AWAY, a sold-out smash hit in Toronto and newly opened to great reviews and sold-out houses on Broadway, is set to take Winnipeg by storm, filling in the much-anticipated Royal MTC Mainstage Slot Three for the 2017/18 season.

Creators Irene Sankoff and David Hein will be joined by the COME FROM AWAY cast: Petrina Bromley, Geno Carr, Jenn Colella, Joel Hatch, Rodney Hicks, Kendra Kassebaum, Tony Award nominee Chad Kimball, Lee MacDougall, Caesar Samayoa, Q. Smith, Astrid Van Wieren and Sharon Wheatley, along with musical arranger and supervisor Ian Eisendrath. Fans who purchase the CD at the store will be offered priority seating.

Junkyard Dog Productions (Randy Adams, Marleen and Kenny Alhadeff and Sue Frost) announced that theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured the worldwide licensing rights to Irene Sankoff & David Hein's COME FROM AWAY.

Toronto Metro News is reporting that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will soon be on his way to Broadway to see one of theatre's newcomers COME FROM AWAY. Trudeau tweeted that he has tickets for himself and his wife on March 15 and he is looking forward 'to showing New Yorkers Canada at its best.'

The new Broadway musical COME FROM AWAY has announced that a limited number of $38 general rush tickets (including the $2 facility fee) will be available at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre box office (236 West 45th Street) when it opens for that day's performance(s). Limited to two tickets per person, tickets are subject to availability. Cash and major credit cards are accepted.
