BWW Review: PROGRAM 4 at San Francisco Ballet Makes Everything Old Feel New Again

BroadwayWorld reviews San Francisco Ballet's richly-rewarding Program 4, which runs lives onstage at the War Memorial Opera House through Sunday, March 20th. The dazzling program pairs the Bournonville Romantic-era classic 'La Sylphide' with Alexei Ratmansky's 'The Seasons,' a rambunctious, contemporary reimagining of a lost Petipa ballet.

LA SYLPHIDE Comes to the Bolshoi This Month

This is a work which marks a turning point in the genre: first, it is the oldest of the classical ballets which are known today, second, the ballet of the same name marks the start of dancing on pointe, third, it is not fortuitous that it was in that ballet that the ballerina — Marie Taglioni, the first ballerina of the romantic era — was to rise on pointe, the sylphide, after all, is a maiden of the air.

New York City Ballet Postpones Start of 2022 Winter Season

New York City Ballet today announced that it is postponing the start of its 2022 Winter Season at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for nine days due to the recent surge of COVID-19 in New York City, which resulted in the Company not being able to rehearse during the last two weeks of December.

Paul Taylor Dance Company Announces Changes to the Organization

The Paul Taylor Dance Company has announced additions to the organization. Jessica Ferretti and Austin Kelly have joined the world-renowned Company, and Michael Apuzzo and alumnus Richard Chen See will join the administrative team.

New York City Ballet Announces Three Promotions

New York City Ballet announced today the promotion of three of the Company’s dancers. Soloists Unity Phelan and Indiana Woodward have been promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer, and corps de ballet member Roman Mejia has been promoted to Soloist.

Winners of The 2020 Clive & Valerie Barnes Awards Announced

The Clive & Valerie Barnes Foundation has announced their Innovation Awards in Dance and Theatre.  Unlike previous years, the Foundation chose to honor one  winner in each category that demonstrated outstanding innovation during the past year.  Each awardee will receive a $5,000 gift.   

Boston Ballet Presents BB@YOURHOME: THE ART OF CLASSICAL BALLET

Boston Ballet is presenting BB@yourhome: The Art of Classical Ballet, an approximately one-hour long program featuring a curated look at the foundations of the artform with excerpts from classical ballet favorites newly filmed in the studio. The Art of Classical Ballet premieres on March 25 and will be available until April 4.
