As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Zoe Caldwell, four-time Tony Award-winning Broadway actress, died peacefully at the age of 86 at her home in Pound Ridge, New York, on Sunday, February 16, 2020. Famed gossip columnist Liz Smith -- 'the Grande Dame of Dish' -- has won countless honors, including an Emmy Award, in her long career. But she's never before been depicted on the stage. In 'Theater Boys' -- the new musical comedy by ASCAP Award-winner Chip Deffaa, now playing at the 13th Street Repertory Theater -- she's not only a character in the show, she's the subject of a whole song about her, a rousing fast-boogie simply titled 'Liz Smith.' That song will also be heard on the show's cast album (sung by Ricky Schroder and the ensemble), being released today, October 18th. (more...)

'Sardi's South' Palm Beach Dramaworks' Eleventh Anniversary Gala

Palm Beach Dramaworks announced Broadway's legendary restaurant Sardi's, will be the theme of its 11th annual Spring Gala, an evening of dinner and entertainment on Saturday, March 19th (6:30PM) to benefit and celebrate West Palm Beach's longest residing theater company. At a recent planning meeting for the gala in Manhattan, Sardi's owner Max Klimavicius graciously granted the Gala's co-chairmen Calla and Ralph Guild, permission to use the restaurant's well known logo, elements of the restaurant, and their legendary caricatures as themes for what promises to be a 'must-attend' event this spring.
