Victory Gardens Theater continues its 44th season with the Chicago Premiere of Pipeline, written by 2018 MacArthur Fellow Dominique Morisseau and directed by Cheryl Lynn Bruce. Pipeline runs February 1 March 3, 2019, with press performance on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 7:30pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

 Theatre production company Parity Productions has released its monthly list of Qualifying Productions for January -their popular directory of New York City shows in which the individual creative teams have 50% of the positions filled with cis women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TGNC) artists (directors, designers, and playwrights). 

The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) has announced casting for DirectorFest 2019: The 35th Annual Directors Festival, the only festival in the United States exploring the art of contemporary stage directing. DirectorFest takes place at various locations around NYC: New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street), The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas), LaGuardia Performing Arts Center (31-10 Thompson Avenue, Long Island City), and Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street). Playwrights Horizons presents the world premiere of If Pretty Hurts Ugly Must Be a Muhf**ka, written by Tori Sampson, directed by Leah C. Gardiner, and choreographed by Raja Feather Kelly, February 15-March 31, 2019 in the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons

We have a lot of new plays on Broadway this season. Thirteen are currently set. There are also seven play revivals. Two of the new plays were written by women--both produced by non-profits and both already closed. Not one revival is of a play written by a woman.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) is thrilled to announce the eighth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes nightly readings of new works written and directed by emerging artists, as well as post-show receptions. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T) at Harvard University, under the leadership of Terrie and Bradley Bloom Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Producer Diane Borger, announces the cast and creative team for Othello by William Shakespeare. The first Shakespeare production from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) to play the east coast, the acclaimed staging by award-winning director Bill Rauch begins previews Sunday, January 13; opens Friday, January 18; and closes Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge, MA.

The Sol Project (Jacob G. Padron, Artistic Director), the national theater initiative dedicated to amplifying Latinx voices and building a body of work for the new American theater, is proud to announce that founding member and artistic producer David Mendizabal will become the Associate Artistic Director, beginning immediately. BroadwayCon has announced today that the new bio musical The Cher Show has joined the BroadwayCon 2019 MainStage lineup. As part of the Spotlight series, the panel will feature cast members STEPHANIE J. BLOCK (Star), TEAL WICKS (Lady), MICAELA DIAMOND (Babe), JARROD SPECTOR (Sonny Bono), MICHAEL BERRESSE (Bob Mackie/Robert Altman/Frank), MICHAEL CAMPAYNO (Rob Camilletti/Lee), and MATTHEW HYDZIK (Gregg Allman/John Southall) on Friday, January 11, at 4:15 p.m.
