MAGIK AT THE EMPIRE SERIES 2018-19 Series Announced

The Magik Theatre will present three shows at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre (226 N. St. Mary's St.) in its 2018-2019 Season. The Magik Theatre has produced shows at the venue since spring 2015, and historically has presented two shows a year, one during the holidays and one in the summer months. This year, the theatre expands its programming to include a Spring Break performance. Tickets for all shows go on sale Friday, September 7 at 10AM.

A story of love, ambition, and moral decay set at the decadent Kit Kat Klub during the rise of the Nazis in 1930's Berlin, the multiple Tony award-winning story features music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and book by Joe Masteroff.

Ovens Auditorium will host 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' on Sunday, December 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, at all Ticketmaster outlets or at the Bojangles' Coliseum Box Office located at 2700 E. Independence Blvd. Tickets cost between $25 and $65 (plus applicable service charges).

When Charlie Brown becomes discouraged by the materialism of the season, Lucy convinces him to direct the neighborhood Christmas play. In typical Charlie Brown fashion, things go awry when he selects a tiny fir tree for the production. It's up to Linus to save the day and remind everyone of the real message of the holiday.

Charles M. Schulz's A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Thursday, November 23, at 7:00pm. In keeping with the theatre's opening night pay-what-you-can tradition, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 6:30pm that evening for a $5 minimum donation. As an Black Friday bonus, pay-what-you-can tickets will also be available for the 8:00pm performance on Friday, November 24, beginning at 7:30pm that evening.

The Fred Ebb Foundation has announced that its 2016 donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will total $1.675 million dollars, bringing the foundation's total contribution to BC/EFA to $13.325 million since it began 12 years ago. The foundation, which is funded by royalties from the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb's vast catalogue of work, makes an annual donation to BC/EFA.

Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the twelfth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore, tonight from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, will be presented by Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley.
