The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and rediscovery of musical gems from the past, will present a return engagement of the hit Off-Broadway musical, Enter Laughing: The Musical with book by Joseph Stein, music and lyrics by Stan Daniels, based on the play Enter Laughing by Joseph Stein from the novel by Carl Reiner, produced in association with Riki Kane Larimer and Alene Daniels. Enter Laughing: The Musical returns to kick off The York's year-long 50th Anniversary Celebration at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
Opening the 2019 winter series is Carmelina, with music by Burton Lane, lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, additional lyrics by Barry Harman, and book by Joseph Stein and Alan Jay Lerner. Performances began Saturday afternoon, January 26, 2019 and continue for 11 performances only through February 3, 2019. The show officially opened last night and BroadwayWorld was there. Jimmy Awards® alumni from the previous 10 years reunited for the first ever Jimmy Awards Reunion event yesterday, January 14. Former Jimmy Awards nominees, representing every year of the program, reunited for the celebration which included special duet performances from alumni currently on Broadway and in Touring Broadway shows. Joining the festivities was special guest Patti Murin, currently starring in Broadway's Frozen.

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) in celebration of its 50th season, will present Romeo and Bernadette- A Musical Tale of Verona and Brooklyn, with book & lyrics by Mark Saltzman and music adapted from classic Italian melodies, the second of four new musicals in development included in this year's "Dare to Be Different" series. Performances are Monday, November 19 at 3pm & 7pm and Tuesday, November 20 at 3pm at A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 West 53rd Street - 10th Avenue & 53rd Street.
Following word last week that the Alanis Morissette musical JAGGED LITTLE PILL would be getting a winter developmental lab, it looks like the show is gearing up to announce the next step on its journey. There has not yet been an official announcement as to where the next production of JAGGED LITTLE PILL will take place, but anything from another out-of-town tryout to a Broadway bow seems possible.
