California Shakespeare Theatre Presents YOU NEVER CAN TELL

The Strawberry One-Act and Theater Festival to Run 7/14-31

The Riant Theatre (Van Dirk Fisher, Artistic Director), a nonprofit theatre providing a nurturing environment to playwrights and theatremakers of diverse cultural backgrounds, proudly presents the 29th Season of the Strawberry One-Act and Theatre Festival. The festival opens on July 14th and runs through July 31st. Each evening will feature a program of one to four plays out of twenty-nine one-act works presented in competition, and on selected evenings, one of five full-length plays. All performances are presented at the Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenue, NYC).

California Shakespeare Theater to Open 25th Season at the Bruns with MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

California Shakespeare Theater marks the beginning of its 25th season at the glorious Bruns Amphitheater with Shakespeare's sassiest battle royale, Much Ado About Nothing, in a newly-minted adaptation by Kenneth Lin and Jackson Gay, with additional text by Lin, and directed by Gay in her Cal Shakes debut. American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) continues its 2015-16 season with AH, WILDERNESS!, Eugene O'Neill's passionate coming-of-age classic. AH, WILDERNESS! is a tender portrait of a sensitive teenage poet whose experience of first love leads him into the raptures of romantic poetry and the pain of heartbreak.

Featuring a lively cast of dozens, delightful music, gorgeous costumes, and those deliciously spooky ghosts, the Bay Area's favorite holiday tradition returns with American Conservatory Theater's celebrated production of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Berkeley Repertory Theatre to Present Tony Kushner's 'THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE', Begin. 5/16

Berkeley Repertory Theatre welcomes back Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner for the West Coast premiere of his latest play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, an epic tale of love, family, sex, money, and politics. Kushner reunites with one of his favorite collaborators, Michael Leibert Artistic Director Tony Taccone, to bring this sweeping drama to the Roda Theatre. With his trademark mix of soaring intellect and searing emotion, the legendary writer unfurls a poignant story about an Italian family in Brooklyn. When retired longshoreman Gus Marcantonio decides to die, his kids come home with a raucous parade of lovers and spouses to find that even the house keeps secrets. A portrait of a dysfunctional family filled with weighty dialogue, humor, and passion, Kushner's four-act play previews Friday, May 16, opens on Wednesday, May 21, and runs through Sunday, June 29, 2014.

A.C.T. Presents New Translation of Eduardo De Filippo's NAPOLI!, Now thru 3/9

Continuing its 2013-14 season, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) travels to 1940s Italy with A.C.T. favorite Marco Barricelli (former Artistic Director of Shakespeare Santa Cruz; Vigil at A.C.T.) and Canada's Stratford Festival star Seana McKenna (Phedre at A.C.T.), who return to lead the cast of Napoli!, Beatrice Basso and Linda Alper's vivid new translation of Eduardo De Filippo's poignant Italian comedy. During the chaotic days of World War II in Naples, an enterprising woman sets up a small-time black market business in the middle of her home to keep her family afloat. She prospers, but maybe a bit too much-compelling her husband to ask hard questions about morality, civility, and the state of their society. In a war-torn culture in which coffee is like liquid gold, De Filippo's masterful blend of humor and pathos tells the story of an unforgettable and wildly entertaining family determined to make a living even if it means profiteering. Directed by A.C.T. Associate Artistic Director Mark Rucker, this production culminates the Year of Italian Culture in the United States.
