PROOF Opens Tonight At The Kitchen Theatre Company

Next up at Kitchen Theatre Company is Proof, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play by David Auburn that explores what we inherit from our parents and what it takes to believe a woman when she doesn't have the physical proof to back up her words. Performances of Proof begin at the Kitchen Theatre Company in the Percy Browning Performance Space on Saturday, November 23 and will run through Sunday, December 15. Thanks to the support of two sponsors and an anonymous donor, all three preview performances (11/23, 11/24, 11/25) will offer patrons the opportunity to a?oePay What You Want,a?? attending the performance for any price.

The Theatresports Cranston Cup has been an institution of the Sydney Comedy season for over thirty years and this year's battle of comic wits is no different. The extraordinary unrestricted funding will support The Crossing's 2019-2020 season, with commissions of Edie Hill, Tawnie Olsen, Gavin Bryars, Daniel Felsenfeld, Aaron Helgeson, Gabriel Jackson, and Michael Gordon at venues such as Crane Arts Icebox, the Met Cloisters, the Hal Prince Theater and Zellerbach Theaters at the Annenberg Center, Holy Trinity Rittenhouse Square, Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, and at The Crossing's home, the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill.

Lifetime Announces 2020 Winter RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES Lineup

Off the heels of Lifetime's Fall Ripped from the Headlines slate which reached 16.4 million Total Viewers*, Lifetime has ordered three new original movies to join the network's Winter 2020 Ripped from The Headlines slate of five movies centered on true-life events. Starring Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Nia Vardalos, Poisoned Love: The Stacey Castor Story follows the tale of a woman whose black widow tendencies are revealed with her murder plots to take down her ex-husbands and daughter. Also greenlit is the psychological thriller The Neighbor in the Window (wt), the story of a suburban wife who finds herself and the security of her family threatened by another seemingly friendly neighborhood mom, starring Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Jenn Lyon. The slate includes You Can't Take My Daughter, an inspiring story about a young woman who fought to keep her rapist from gaining custody of her daughter, starring SAG nominee Lyndsy Fonseca and Golden Globe and Emmy winner Kirstie Alley.

The Flenser Announces 10 Year Anniversary Showcase At Roadburn 2020

Next year, The Flenser will be celebrating 10 years of releasing music.  The label will mark the occasion at the 2020 edition of Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands with a showcase featuring some of their current artists (including the European debut of Giles Corey with a full band).  Flenser artists performing at Roadburn 2020 (April 16-19): Giles Corey, Midwife, Drowse, Elizabeth Colour Wheel, and Mamaleek.

Majestic Endowment Campaign Tops $5 Million Goal

Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater celebrated its 94th birthday on Thursday, Nov. 14 with the announcement that its Centennial Endowment Campaign had raised $5.3 million. The campaign went over the top when the theater received three additional gifts including a $1 million estate provision from a local couple who wish to remain anonymous. The $5 million campaign was launched on the theater's 90th birthday in 2015 to raise dedicated funds to bring in bigger stars, and expand the diversity of its world-class programming in music, dance, theater, and film.

BWW Review: OLIVER! at Marriott Theatre

Tis' the season that many theaters turn to Dickensian fare, but at Marriott Theatre, young Oliver Twist rather than Tiny Tim takes the stage. Nick Bowling directs Lionel Bart's OLIVER!, the 1960 musical based on Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist. With music direction by Ryan T. Nelson and choreography by Brenda Didier, a talented cast of child and adult actors delivers Bart's eminently hummable, if not groundbreaking, tunes. Though certain aspects of the material are irremediably dated, this is an entertaining revival of a (mostly) family-friendly show.
