The Festival takes place today, January 21, through January 31 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Sundance and Ogden, Utah.
There was a time when the movie was considered the epitome of pop culture entertainment. The Signature Theatre productions of Arthur Miller's Incident at Vichy, directed by Michael Wilson, and Naomi Wallace's Night is a Room, directed by Bill Rauch, will both play their final performances this Sunday, December 20 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). The twice-extended Incident at Vichy was named to Time Magazine's Top 10 Plays/Musicals of the Year, while Night is a Room, also extended, was called an "audacious jaw-dropper" by The New York Times.
HBO has renewed the critically acclaimed drama series THE LEFTOVERS for a third and final season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Created by Damon Lindelof (Emmy winner for “Lost”) and Tom Perrotta (Academy Award nominee for “Little Children”), the series is produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television.

The goal of art is to make the viewer feel. While many didn't appreciate what the first season of HBO's THE LEFTOVERS made them feel, no one can argue that it did, in fact, make them feel something; and for many, more deeply than TV has in a long time. Often, for better or for worse, that feeling was an overwhelming sense of oppressive grief. Easily last season's most divisive show, Season 2 kicked off tonight with a slightly different approach, a more optimistic approach, but nonetheless, still a very emotionally intense approach. And, in doing so, THE LEFTOVERS has taken a gigantic step forward to becoming the most compelling drama on television.
More than three years ago, 2% of the world's population inexplicably vanished. 140 million people, gone in an instant. No country, no state, no city was spared – except for one small town in eastern Texas. Population: 9261. Departures: Zero.
