Larry Hart's 'Praise!' benefit concert will play one night only on Sunday, October 28th, 2012 at 6 p.m. at Middle Collegiate Church.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival Developmental Reading Series presents The Sugar Hill Sisters, a new musical with book and lyrics by the Lambda and Stonewall Award-winning Bil Wright and music by Joseph-Vernon Banks (Girlfriends!). The reading will be directed by Jade King Carroll (Assoc. director of Broadway's current revival of A Streetcar Named Desire) with music direction by GLAAD Award nominee Dionne McClain-Freeney Kasey Ostopchuck (4000 Miles) will be stage managing.

Broadway actors Linda Hart (Hairspray, Anything Goes, and Catch Me if You Can), Matt Cavenaugh (West Side Story and Urban Cowboy), Jenny Powers (Grease and Little Women), Angela Grovey (Leap of Faith), Grammy-nominated singer Ryan Shaw (Real Love and It Gets Better), and members of the Middle Church artists community lend their voices to Larry Hart's Praise!: An Irreverently Reverent Gospel Experience today, June 17 at 6 pm at Middle Collegiate Church (112 Second Avenue near E. 7th Street). Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, the high-energy music of Praise! is inspired by The Common themes shared in world religions.

LEAP OF FAITH might have taken its final bow back in May, but sources in the cast tell us that an album is in the works. The cast will gather tomorrow, June 13 to record the original cast album. A release date has not yet been announced.

Alan Menken has taken to his twitter just now to announce that LEAP OF FAITH will be recording a Broadway cast album sometime soon. No details regarding a label, recording or anticipated release date have been confirmed at present.

Producers of LEAP OF FAITH announced today that the show will close at Broadway's St. James Theatre this Sunday May 13 after the matinee performance. In a statement, they said "Although we love our show and very much appreciate both our many award nominations and the joy of our audiences, we have not been able to achieve a sustainable level of ticket sales to continue. We thank all those who worked so hard over so many years to bring LEAP OF FAITH to Broadway."
