Staged Readings Goodman Theater 14th ANNUAL NEW STAGES FESTIVAL

Goodman Theatre announces the casts for its one-time-only staged readings as part of its free 14th annual New Stages Festival, October 5-8. The four staged readings include: How to Catch Creation by Christina Anderson; Eden Prairie, 1971 by Mat Smart; The Untranslatable Secrets of Nikki Corona written and directed by Jos Rivera; We're Only Alive for A Short Amount of Time by David Cale, music by Matthew Dean Marsh. Plus, a sneak peek at an immersive work-in-progress POSTNATION conceived by Mikhael Tara Garver, an exploration of immigrants' roles in the creation of the U.S. Postal Service. Audiences also have the final opportunity to experience the three developmental productions (staged in repertory) during the weekend: Lottery Day by Ike Holter, directed by Lili-Anne Brown; Continuity by Bess Wohl, directed by Annie Tippe; and Twilight Bowl by Rebecca Gilman, directed by Erica Weiss. STRANGEST THINGS! and THE WIZ Lead 2017 Chicago Theatre Award Nominations

Today, The Hawk Chicago announced nominations for the inaugural Chicago Theatre Awards, a contest in which all winners are chosen entirely by audience vote. The first round, which invited write-in submissions, ended June 23rd. The official nominees were decided by almost 1,600 voters.

Haven Theatre Company announces How We Got On to begin their fourth season, written by Idris Goodwin and directed by Jess McLeod, at the company's new home within the Den Theatre's new Bookspan Theatre, 1335 Milwaukee Ave., September 29 - November 12. Previews are Thursday, Sept. 29 - Saturday, Oct.1 at 8 p.m. Opening night is Sunday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. The regular performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Regular run tickets are $32, senior tickets are $20 and college/industry tickets are $15 (preview tickets are $12). BoHo Theatre to Bring NEXT TO NORMAL to Theater Wit

BoHo Theatre completes its 2016 season with NEXT TO NORMAL, Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt's rock opera about struggling with grief and mental illness in suburban America. The production is directed by Theater at the Center Artistic Director Linda Fortunato, who recently earned a Jeff Award for choreographing BoHo's KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN and a Jeff Award nomination for directing BoHo's PARADE.

The House That Will Not Stand runs June 10 - July 10, 2016, with the press performance on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 7:30 pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

Victory Gardens to Host Benefit Peformance of THE HOUSE THAT WILL NOT STAND in Support of Chicago Artist Sam Roberson

Victory Gardens Theater will host a special benefit performance of The House That Will Not Stand by Ensemble Playwright Marcus Gardley, directed by VG Artistic Director Chay Yew, in support of Congo Square Theatre's Artistic Director Sam G. Roberson, Jr. on June 18, 2016 at 7:30 pm. Victory Gardens will donate fifty percent of the proceeds from the performance to assist Roberson with housing, food and medical care as he waits for a heart and kidney transplant. The evening will include a pre-show reception starting at 6:30 pm to celebrate Sam followed by the performance at 7:30 pm. Tickets for this performance can be purchased at www.victorygradens.org or by calling the box office at 773.871.3000. Victory Gardens Theater is located at 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.
