Newsies will move to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre for a strictly limited 101 performance run this spring, following its critically-hailed run at Paper Mill Playhouse in fall 2011. The musical, featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), will play its first Broadway preview on March 15th prior to its March 29th opening night; the final performance is scheduled for June 10th. Tony Award Nominee Gavin Creel (HAIR; Thoroughly Modern Millie) will step back onto the Joe's Pub stage for one-night-only to celebrate the debut of his brand new solo album Get Out, he announced from the stage of his sold-out Lincoln Center American Songbook Series concert. On Monday, March 19, the singer, actor and activist will play 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM concerts at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street). Audience members with tickets to the 9:30 PM concert will be invited to stay for a post-show album release party.

According to Deadline.com, actors Frances Conroy, Tovah Feldshuh and Patrick Heusinger have been cast in an upcoming pilot for the NBC network entitled BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE.

Disney Theatrical Productions has just announced that Capathia Jenkins will play the role of Medda in Newsies when the show begins performances at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre on March 15th in advance of a March 29th opening.

Disney Theatrical Productions has announced the Broadway cast of Newsies. Joining the previously announced Jeremy Jordan as Jack Kelly are John Dossett (2003 revival of Gypsy) as Joseph Pulitzer, Kara Lindsay (Little House on the Prairie) as Katherine Plumber, Ben Fankhauser (Spring Awakening national tour) as Davey, Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Mary Poppins) as Crutchie, and Lewis Grosso (Mary Poppins), and Matthew Schechter (Elf) alternating the role of Les. Dossett, Lindsay, Fankhauser and Keenan-Bolger will all reprise the roles they created in the Paper Mill Playhouse production last fall. Casting for the role of Medda will be announced shortly.

Last June, comedian Tracy Morgan took a lot of heat for the stand-up routine that he performed in Nashville, in which he went into a homophobic rant. Morgan will return to television this week when 30 ROCK makes its season six premiere, and agroup of Broadway veterans, including Donna Vivino, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Jake Wilson, and more have an idea for how the issue can be resolved. According to Deadline.com, NBC has announced that actors James Murray and Patrick Heusinger will be starring in their upcoming futuristic new drama entitled 'Beautiful People'.

On December 10th and 11th, Christopher J. Hanke and Telly Leung joined Broadway Artists Alliance to lead master classes. Hanke led a How to Succeed...-themed master class, and Leung led a GLEE-themed master class.
