A host of theatre artists will rejoin forces on March 11th for the second annual Spotlight On St. Jude, Broadway's Tribute to the Kids.

The Long Island Theatre scene is really shaping up this upcoming spring/summer season. As most of the theatres have announced their schedule, I'm thrilled to bring you a preview.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that it will continue its collaboration with Dallas Theater Center to co-produce the new musical THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE in 2014. Following the success of the musical Giant, THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, based upon the bestselling novel by Jonathan Lethem, will premiere at Dallas Theater Center in March and continue in New York as part of The Public's 2014-15 Season at Astor Place.

The celebrated musical RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S Cinderella, originally written for television in 1957 by the legendary musical theatre duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, will open tonight, March 3, at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd Street).

DOMA Theatre Company has announced its second all-musical season for 2013. Audiences will be able to experience four large-cast, Broadway-style musical productions, including Dreamgirls, Sweet Charity, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, in a personal and intimate setting at Hollywood's MET Theatre.

Deadline reports that 'Peter and the Starcatcher' Tony-Award winning director Alex Timbers has signed on to helm an untitled musical film for Disney, described as 'a contemporary adaptation of a Shakespeare play.'

Edges opens February 28 and plays through March 10 at the Dougherty Arts Center.

Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Executive Director) will present Lesser America's World Premiere of Nick Jones' (Jollyship the Whiz-bang with Ars Nova/The Public; The Coward with Lincoln Center) Trevor, tonight, February 28-March 17 at Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue between 9th and 10th Street).

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 20th anniversary season with 'Home,' Samm-Art Williams' brilliantly inventive, lyrically expressive play that tells the coming-of-age story of a young black man, Cephus Miles, from rural North Carolina. From beginning to end - and through tragedy and triumph - Cephus never loses his joyful goodwill, his indomitable spirit, and the conviction that one day his quest for fulfillment with be rewarded. 'Home' stars returning Rep Stage actors Felicia Curry and Fatima Quander, as well as Rep newcomer Robert Lee Hardy in the role of Cephus Miles.

The Public Theater will begin previews for the world premiere of DETROIT '67, a Public Lab production by Dominique Morisseau, tonight, February 26. Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, DETROIT '67 will run through Sunday, March 17 in The Public's Shiva Theater, with an official press opening on Tuesday, March 12.

Bitingduck Press is pleased to announce 'The War of 1812Remember the Raisin' by Michael Aye, to be released Fall 2013. This marks the launch of a new historical fiction series set during the War of 1812, showing real events in a fictionalized format. Facing one failure after another, President Madison appoints Jonah Leea trusted scout for General 'Mad' Anthony Wayneto ensure that the Northern American army under General William Harrison takes the fight to the British, pushing them back into Canada. MCC Theater has announced the extension of the New York premiere production of Paul Downs Colaizzo's Really Really, directed by David Cromer (the Obie Award and Lucille Lortel Award-winning director of hits Our Town, Adding Machine and Tribes). The production, which marks Colaizzo's New York playwriting debut, is now scheduled at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) through March 24, 2013. It was previously scheduled through March 10th. Tickets for the added performances are on sale now.

Darren Goldstein (Bloody, Bloody, Andrew Jackson; Abigail's Party) will join the cast of Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of THE MADRID in the role of Danny starting Thursday, February 28.

One month ago, 35 gifted lyricists, composers and librettists took up residency at Goodspeed Musicals in East Haddam, CT for the first ever Johnny Mercer Writers Colony to participate in an environment of discovery and inspiration. Working in teams and housed in specially constructed quintessential New England two story cottages each equipped with a piano, the teams worked on over 30 musicals during the course of the month. On Saturday February 16, the residency program concluded with a Salon as had been done each week featuring a sparkling sampler of new musicals that were worked on throughout the month.
