Lyric Opera of Kansas City's SILENT NIGHT Begins 1/21

Lyric Opera of Kansas City continues its exhilarating 57th season with the Kansas City premiere of composer Kevin Puts' 2012 Pulitzer Prize-winning opera, Silent Night, February 21, 25 and 27 and March 1 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The production will be sung in English, German, French, Italian and Latin with English titles.

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra Presents Handel's MESSIAH, 12/20

December 20 marks the cultural high point of Rhode Island's holiday season as The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra joins forces with The Providence Singers, CHRISTINE NOEL, artistic director, in their eighth annual performance of George Frideric Handel's MESSIAH. Soloists include soprano DEBORAH SELIG, mezzo-soprano REBECCA RINGLE, tenor CHARLES BLANDY and MATTHEW BURNS, bass-baritone. ANDREW CLARK, Director of Choral Activities at Harvard University and former artistic director of the Providence Singers, conducts. The perennial favorite holiday concert features a family-friendly start time of 7:00pm on Saturday December 20 at The Vets in Providence. The RI Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School Launch New Kids Club

As part of its mission to expand and enrich the arts across the region, the RI Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School has developed a new Kids Club to encourage children in grades 3-6 to get to know their “hometown” orchestra with exclusive and heavily discounted tickets for Kids Club members and their families to attend FridayAmica Rush Hour concerts. Rush Hour concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. and run about 75 minutes with no intermission, and involve fun and interactive elements for the audience. Membership in the Kids Club includes conversations with conductors, musicians and special guests as well as backstage tours, games and activities, and other exclusive events -- all for less than the price of movie tickets -- making the new Kids Club irresistible.

Voters Approve Question 5; Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School Grateful

Together with the passage of Question 7, the passage of Question 5 confirms Rhode Island voters' overwhelming approval of investment in our state's natural, historic, and arts and culture assets.

The Handel and Haydn Society (H+H), led by Artistic Director Harry Christophers, opens the 2014-2015 Bicentennial Season on October 10 and 12 with the joyous program, Baroque Fireworks! H+H turns 200. The celebration continues with performances of historically significant works that H+H introduced to American audiences in the 19th century (Handel's Messiah, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Bach's St. Matthew Passion, and Haydn's Creation). The Bicentennial Season culminates in the spring and summer with an interactive exhibit at the Boston Public Library exploring H+H's history, a world premiere work by prominent American composer Gabriela Lena Frank, and a free outdoor performance of Beethoven's epic Ninth Symphony ('Ode to Joy').

Harvard Glee Club Joins LACC's Young Men's Ensemble for Performance at Altadena Community Church Today

The Los AngeLes Children's Chorus (LACC) begins the New Year with a bang when its Young Men's Ensemble (YME), conducted by Dr. Steven Kronauer, is featured in a joint performance with the acclaimed Harvard Glee Club, America's oldest collegiate choir, under the director of Andrew Clark, at Altadena Community Church tonight, January 17, 2014, 8 pm. The choirs perform individually and jointly in a concert presented by the Pasadena Master Chorale.
