UMS Cancels Remaining Performances In 2019/20 Season

In light of the recent recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and the State of Michigan, the University Musical Society (UMS) announces that the upcoming performances by American Ballet Theatre (ABT) and the Chineke! Orchestra with Sheku Kanneh-Mason have been canceled to support efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. UMS was originally scheduled to present ABT at the Detroit Opera House April 16-19 in partnership with Michigan Opera Theatre, and the Chineke! Orchestra was to perform at Hill Auditorium on April 23. With these two cancellations, UMS's 2019/20 season has concluded.

Hammer Theatre Postpones New Ballet's FAST FORWARD To June 7

Due to theaters closing to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Hammer Theatre Center has postponed New Ballet's Fast Forward, an exhilarating evening of contemporary ballet highlighting the innovative works of rising local and national choreographers originally scheduled for March 28.

DPAC Suspends Upcoming Productions

In response to the Executive Order from North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper prohibiting mass gatherings of more than 100 people, DPAC has suspended all public events through April 12, 2020.

Due to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's' temporary ban on all large group events in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, theatres across the state are postponing and/or canceling performances. Segerstrom Center For The Arts To Cancel Performances Through March

In accordance with Governor Gavin Newsom's directive and the guidelines issued by the California Department of Public Health to postpone or cancel all gatherings that include 250 people or more, Segerstrom Center for the Arts is canceling performances through the remainder of March.

On Thursday March 21 at 1PM noted concert series a?oeMusic in Midtowna?? is pleased to present Graduate Center faculty, Sylvia Kahan and members of Quartet 131 in a program of 20th century works reflecting the politics of inclusion. The concert will take place at the Elebash Recital Hall at the Cuny Graduate Center located at 365 Fifth Avenue in New York City. The concert is free and open to the public.

Perspectives Ensemble to Present DARK EYES/NEW EYES: A CELEBRATION OF ARMENIAN MUSIC

Perspectives Ensemble, in cooperation with the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, presents Dark Eyes/New Eyes: A Celebration of Armenian Music on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 7pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Chapel of St. James, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street. The performance will feature Zulal, a vocal trio composed of Teni Apelian, Anaïs Alexandra Tekerian, and Yeraz Markarian, and Perspectives Ensemble members, including flutist and Artistic Director Sato Moughalian, harpist Stacey Shames, and percussionist John Hadfield. Admission is free and running time is 70 minutes, no intermission.

The Australian Ballet Appoints David Hallberg As Artistic Director

The Australian Ballet today announced the appointment of David Hallberg to succeed current Artistic Director David McAllister who retires in December 2020. David Hallberg is currently The Australian Ballet's Resident Guest Artist and is a Principal Dancer with both American Ballet Theatre and The Bolshoi Ballet, and is Principal Guest Artist with The Royal Ballet. He has been a regular guest artist with The Australian Ballet for ten years.

113 Southern California High School Students are Semifinalists in The Music Center's 32nd Annual Spotlight Program

The Music Center named 113 of Southern California's most talented high school students as semifinalists in The Music Center's 32nd annual Spotlight (Spotlight) program, a free nationally acclaimed scholarship and arts training program for teens. Since its launch in 1988, Spotlight has transformed the lives of 49,000 students across Southern California by being more than just a competition. An important part of The Music Center's fundamental support for arts education, the arts training program provides students the opportunity to develop their performance abilities, learn about careers in arts management and receive valuable college preparedness and workforce readiness skills to pursue their dreams in the performing arts. This year, nearly 1,400 teens representing more than 260 schools, 198 cities and eight counties auditioned for the prestigious program.

The Clive Barnes Foundation, today announced finalists for the 10th Annual Clive Barnes Awards, recognizing excellence in Theater and Dance. Segerstrom Center's Disney Musicals In Schools Student Showcase Announced

Today, Segerstrom Center for the Arts is pleased to announce its 2020 FREE Disney Musicals in Schools student share performance, hosted by Kayla Cyphers, who stars as Nala in The North American Tour of Disney's The Lion King. On Wednesday, March 11 at 5:00pm, 200 elementary school students from Arthur F. Corey Elementary (Buena Park), Garfield Elementary (Santa Ana), Frank Vessels Elementary (Cypress), and Sycamore Elementary (Orange) will sing and dance their way through scenes from Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS and Aladdin KIDS in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Disney Musicals in Schools is designed to help Orange County public elementary schools create sustainable musical theater programs.
