A reading of Harriet, a musical based on the life of Harriet Tubman, will be presented on Wednesday, July 16, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on Sunday, July 20 at 12 p.m. in The Studio Theatre at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street (between 9th Avenue & Dyer Avenue). Harriet is an official selection of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival.

This July and August 54 BELOW presents an exciting lineup of the brightest talent from Broadway and beyond. Located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street.

Rehearsals begin this weekend for a Musical Theatre Factory development workshop of composer Zoe Sarnak's THE YEARS BETWEEN, an exploration of New York millennials set to a rock, folk, pop and soul score. Featuring Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Laura Dreyfuss (Once), Amber Iman (Soul Doctor), Gabe Violet (Spring Awakening), Taylor Noble (A Lasting Impression), and Josh Tolle (Next to Normal at Drury Lane), the workshop will be directed by opera director Kevin Newbury, choreographed by Jason Sparks, and music directed by Andy Einhorn (Cinderella, Bullets Over Broadway). Jen Hoguet is producing in collaboration with Musical Theatre Factory.

HOLLER IF YA HEAR ME, written by Todd Kreidler and directed by Kenny Leon, blazes to life in a non-biographical story about friendship, family, revenge, change and hope. Inner city lives struggle for peace against the daily challenges they face in this entertaining and original musical. Through the poetry of one of the 20th century's most influential and culturally prominent voices, we are given a window into realities of the streets still relevant today. The show opened last night, June 19 at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway at 47th Street), and BroadwayWorld was there for all of the festivities. The starry lineup is now complete for Broadway Sings Justin Timberlake, the sixth concert of the BROADWAY SINGS concert series. More than 15 Broadway performers will be accompanied by a full jazz band playing brand new, original orchestrations of Timberlake's greatest hits. Previous artists honored in the series were Adele, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, and Amy Winehouse.

According to a listing on Telecharge.com, SOUL DOCTOR, which ran on Broadway last year at the Circle in the Square Theatre, will reappear off-Broadway this season. The production is set to begin performances December 1st at the Actors Temple Theatre, with an opening slated for December 15, 2014. No word yet on who will star, but BWW will keep you updated as we learn more!

Queens Theatre (QT) celebrated its 25th Anniverary with a gala on June 2, 2014 at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY 11368). The gala honored Euripides Pelekanos who is the co-founder and CEO of Queens favorite burger spot, Bareburger. Virginia's Signature Theatre opens its' air-conditioned doors once again for the annual Sizzlin' Summer Nights Series. For two and a half weeks, Signature's intimate cabaret venue hosts an eclectic mix of Signature favorites, DC-area stars, and some of New York's most exciting performers. The cabaret series runs July 9 through July 26, with a different performance each night.
