Soho Rep Adds Second Extension For IS GOD IS, Now Through 3/31

Soho Rep. (Sarah Benson, Artistic Director; Cynthia Flowers, Executive Director), has extended the world premiere of Aleshea Harris's Relentless Award-winning Is God Is, directed by Taibi Magar, a second time, through March 31.

Kate Shindle, Janet Dacal, and More Will Join Harry Connick, Jr in Paper Mill's THE STING

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director), recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, has announced today the cast and creative team of the world premiere production of the new musical The Sting, based on the 1973 film, and with book by Bob Martin, music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann & Greg Kotis with Harry Connick, Jr.

TNT presents Smart and Funny One Man Show BUYER & CELLAR

Terrific New Theatre presents the Alabama premiere of the hilarious and whimsical comedy "Buyer & Cellar." The production opens March 8 and continues through March 24, with shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees on March 11 and March 18 at 2:30 p.m.

Yale Rep Presents Suzan-Lori Parks's FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS, Parts 1, 2 & 3

Yale Repertory Theatre (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director) presents Father Comes Home From the Wars, Parts 1, 2 & 3 by Suzan-Lori Parks, directed by Liz Diamond, March 16-April 7, at the University Theatre (222 York Street). Opening Night is Thursday, March 22. Father Comes Home From the Wars, Parts 1, 2 & 3 is a co-production with San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater, where it will play April 25-May 20.

BWW Review: TUCK EVERLASTING charms at CTM

LITTLE ROCK to Receive New York Premiere at the Sheen Center

Today the New York premiere of Little Rock was announced, written and directed by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj. Performances are set to begin Wednesday, May 30, 2018 for a limited run through September 8, 2018 at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street). Opening Night is set for Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 7:00PM. Cast and creative team will be announced shortly.

Theatre enthusiasts packed the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts tonight to hear Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley and Executive Director Phil Santora of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley reveal the lineup for the company's 49th season, which launches this summer. Among the exhilarating works announced were: the World Premiere of a new piece by Hershey Felder on Claude Debussy, an acclaimed Tony-winning musical, a thrilling political prizefight, and an array of Regional Premieres that include a hit comedy that sends up suburban values, a gospel/rhythm & blues musical developed at TheatreWorks, a heart-stirring musical for the holidays, a comic drama about one of the key historical events in the last century, a searing look at an unsung American hero, plus the return of the grown-up holiday hit The Santaland Diaries. Maurice Hines to Emcee 2018 Arena Stage Gala with Mary McBride as Headliner

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith and Executive Director Edgar Dobie are pleased to announce that Broadway legend Maurice Hines will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and international touring artist and global humanitarian Mary McBride will headline the 2018 Arena Stage Gala honoring Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., SW). As previously announced, the Gala features the presentation of the third annual Beth Newburger Schwartz Award to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, and will recognize Jessica Stafford Davis as an Emerging Leader. The Gala is helmed by event chairs and Arena Stage Trustees Lavern Chatman and Maggie FitzPatrick.

Black Stars and Filmmakers Celebrate 10 Years of AFROPOP: THE ULTIMATE CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Black stars and filmmakers converged on the Harlem Stage Gatehouse on Friday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed series AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange. The event featured a screening of the documentary program's season finale , Fatal Assistance, award-winning director Raoul Peck's sobering indictment of the global aid policies that failed Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating 2010 earthquake. The evening was hosted by actor Nicholas L. Ashe, star of the hit OWN Network series Queen Sugar and host of this season of AfroPoP, and featured a post-screening discussion led by award-winning journalist Maria Hinojosa with Hébert Peck, producer of Fatal Assistance.

Alliance Announces Playwriting Competition Winner & Finalists

The Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists.  Sheltered, the 14th competition winner, is the story of one American couple's harrowing decision to rescue 50 Jewish children from Europe during WWII.  Sheltered is written by Alix Sobler who recently earned her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. During the Alliance's season-long renovation, Sheltered will be staged at Actor's Express, March 1 - 25, 2018. 

Audible Will Award $5 Million in Commissions to Emerging Playwrights

Audible Inc., the world's largest producer and provider of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment, today announced the first class of theater commissions selected to receive support from its fund dedicated to the commission and development of innovative English-language works from playwrights around the globe. Announced earlier this year, the $5 million fund will enable the creation of one- and two-person audio plays driven by language and voice, in keeping with Audible's core commitment to elevating listening experiences through powerful performances of brilliantly composed words.

Amas Musical Theatre to Honor Jay Binder, Micki Grant & Leonid Poretsky, MD at Spring Benefit Concert

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer), New York City's award-winning pioneer in diversity and multi-ethnic casting in the performing arts since 1968, will celebrate its 49th Anniversary at its annual Gala Benefit on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (East 25th Street between Lexington and 3rd Avenues). Honorary Chair for the event is Tony Award-nominated actor/singer and 2016 Rosie Award-winner Norm Lewis. Two-time Tony Award-nominee Brad Oscar will be Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

The Hilarious THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES Is Almost Here

Virginia Stage Company continues its 39th Season with a lighting quick, comical adaptation of the beloved detective novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, produced in partnership with TheatreSquared. Three actors play more than 20 characters in this hilarious spoof of beastly proportions. Directed by Mark Shanahan, this production is "a sublimely funny adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic," which lovers of the Watson and Holmes duo will enjoy.
