Lightning Rod Special (LRS) creator of the Obie-Award winning Underground Railroad Game, announces the New York premiere of their newest theater work, The Appointment.

The Ground Floor: Berkeley Rep's Center for the Creation and Development of New Work announced the 20 projects selected for its 2019 Summer Residency Lab. Chosen from over 620 submissions, these projects represent an expansive array of voices and theatrical forms and bring an innovative spirit to the eighth summer of the Lab.

FringeArts kicks off their new High Pressure Fire Service Festival that celebrates Philadelphia artists and creators starting March 1. High Pressure Fire Service features some of Philadelphia's preeminent performers as they addresses issues of representation, gender, accessibility, reproductive justice, and more through devised theater, comedy, and participatory play.

Original performance company Lightning Rod Special (LRS) is reaching the culmination of a three year effort as it premieres its newest theater work, THE APPOINTMENT, at FringeArts (140 N. Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia), running for a limited engagement March 20 through 31, 2019. The piece, which examines the contemporary abortion debate in America, will serve as the centerpiece of the FringeArts High Pressure Fire Service Festival, dedicated to promoting the next generation of vital theatre coming from Philadelphia. Opening night for press is Thursday, March 21 at 8PM.

Today FringeArts President and Producing Director Nick Stuccio and Artistic Producers Katy Dammers and Zach Blackwood announced the programming for two new FringeArts festivals. Blue Heaven presents twelve distinct comedy acts over two days this February 1 and 2. High Pressure Fire Service runs from March through June and features six new productions-five world premieres and one expanded remount-from some of Philadelphia's preeminent performers. These exciting new platforms expand FringeArts' already rich roster of programming-the flagship fall Fringe Festival, contemporary circus festival Hand to Hand, and year-round music, comedy, and cabaret performances-and further its mission to present world-class, contemporary performing arts that challenge convention and inspire new ways of thinking.

Theatre Philadelphia, the region's marketing and leadership organization for theatre, proudly announces the 2018 nominees for the Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theatre. Celebrating the rich, diverse professional theatre scene in the Greater Philadelphia region, the Barrymore Ceremony will be held on Monday, November 5th at 7pm at the Bok Building at 1901 S. 9th Street in South Philadelphia. Circadium School of Contemporary Circus presents the launch of Test Flights, a brand-new multi-disciplinary work-in-progress showing every month. Professional artists working in any discipline of live performance, including circus, theatre, dance, spoken-word, music and performance art, are invited to participate. Test Flights will be curated by  Circadium's Physical Theatre Instructor Ben Grinberg. This new monthly performance series is free and open to the public. 

The Wilma Theater is excited to announce Lee Minora in Residency in the latter half of its 2017-18 Season. A solo artist, comedian and current teaching artist at the Wilma, Minora will develop her second solo show White Feminist as a part of the three-month long residency. With White Feminist, Minora is exposing the ugly truth behind respectability politics, "leaning in', and self-serving feminist hypocrisy done all wrong. White Feminist will have its first public showing at the Wilma Theater as a part of the HotHouse Crush Series on March 24th, under the direction of Alice York, co-artistic director of Lightning Rod Special.

Azuka Theatre kicks off their 18th season with the world premiere of The Gap by Emma Goidel. Rebecca Wright directs this dark comedy and mystery that centers around family secrets, performing, and sisterhood.

Ars Nova has announced an international tour of the critically acclaimed Underground Railroad Game. The provocative production, which premiered in New York last year, was created by Jennifer Kidwell and Scott R. Sheppard with Philadelphia based theater company Lightning Rod Special and directed by Taibi Magar.

Following a sold-out and critically acclaimed start to their 18th season, Theatre Exile returns to present the Philadelphia premiere of The Whale by Samuel D. Hunter from February 5 to March 1, 2015 at Theatre Exile's Studio X, 1340 S. 13th Street (13th and Reed Street)

InterAct Theatre Company brings to the stage the world premiere production of A. Zell Williams' Down Past Passyunk, inspired by the controversy stirred up by Philadelphia landmark Geno's Steaks. Down Past Passyunk runs from April 4 - 27, 2014 with previews from April 4 - 6. Press opening is April 9 at 7p.m. InterAct Theatre Company is located at 2030 Sansom Street.
