Strawdog Theatre Company to Stage World Premiere of ROBIN HOOD AND MAID MARIAN

 Strawdog Theatre Company, Artistic Director Hank Boland and Hugen Hall Artistic Director Anderson Lawfer are proud to announce the second production in their 2015 - 2016 Hugen Hall season, the world premiere of Robin Hood and Maid Marian, adapted by Forks and Hope and based on Alfred Lord Tennyson's The Foresters, November 28 - December 29, directed by Matt Pierce at Hugen Hall in Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N. Broadway Street.

Mat Kondo Pens FIRST HARVEST

In his poetic debut, 'First Harvest: Collected Poems, 2003-2013' (published by Partridge Singapore), Mat Kondo offers a peek into the mind of a man deeply in love with the world and equally troubled by its existing state of affairs. Kondo's neo-beat style of poetry is a distillation of the themes and language found in the poetry of Corso, Kerouac and Micheline, as well as their heroes before them - Shelley, Basho and Blake.'

Mat Kondo marks his poetic debut with the release of 'First Harvest: Collected Poems, 2003-2013' (published by Partridge Singapore). An anthology of Kondo's signature neo-beat style of poetry, this book paints a portrait of the author as a man deeply in love with the world and equally troubled by its current state. He draws influence and inspiration from the poetry of Corso, Kerouac and Micheline, as well as their heroes before them - Shelley, Basho and Blake.

Bergen County Players to Close 81st Season with MY FAVORITE WIFE, 6/7-8

The Bergen County Players (BCP) closes its highly successful 2013-2014 season with a presentation of 'My Favorite Wife' - a Players Radio Theatre Production. Under the direction of Jerry Hurley, 'My Favorite Wife' will be performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell on Saturday, June 7th at 8:00 PM and Sunday, June 8th at 2:00 PM, and both performances are close to a sellout. Remaining tickets are just $10 and can be purchased online at www.bcplayers.org, by calling 201-261-4200 or by visiting the box office at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell during regular box office hours.

The Met Features Julia Margaret Cameron Works Today

Julia Margaret Cameron features 35 works by of one of the greatest portraitists in the history of photography. Cameron (1815-1879) blended an unorthodox technique, a deeply spiritual sensibility, and a Pre-Raphaelite–inflected aesthetic to create a gallery of vivid portraits and a mirror of the Victorian soul. The exhibition (on view from August 19, 2013 through January 5, 2014) features masterpieces including portraits of well-known subjects such as the poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson, scientist Sir John Herschel, and philosopher Thomas Carlyle.

One of the greatest portraitists in the history of photography, Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) blended an unorthodox technique, a deeply spiritual sensibility, and a Pre-Raphaelite-inflected aesthetic to create a gallery of vivid portraits and a mirror of the Victorian soul. Julia Margaret Cameron, on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art beginning today, August 19, 2013, is the first New York City museum exhibition devoted to Cameron's work in nearly a generation and the first ever at the Met. The showing of 35 works is drawn entirely from the Metropolitan's rich collection, including major works from the Rubel Collection acquired in 1997 and the Gilman Collection acquired in 2005.

MAN OF LA MANCHA, RUTHLESS! and More Set for Bergen County Players' 2013-14 Season

Long considered one of America's premier community theater groups, Bergen County Players (BCP) has announced for 2013-14 another ambitious, passionate and playful year of audience-pleasing musicals and innovative plays for its 81st consecutive season. From toe-tapping musicals to hilarious comedies to intense dramas, BCP has garnered a reputation for outstanding quality productions at affordable prices. The new season kicks off with one of the best-loved musicals of a generation, the five-time Tony Award-winning Man of La Mancha (its principal song, 'The Impossible Dream' has become a standard). BCP's 81st season opener will once again feature a live orchestra and will be suitable for all ages.

Baltimore Choral Arts Presents POETRY IN SONG, 5/5

Music Director Tom Hall and Baltimore Choral Arts present "Poetry in Song," a unique concert experience showcasing how literature and music come together to create musical gems of the choral repertoire. The Chorus is joined by actor Kyle Prue for this performance on Sunday, May 5, at 3 pm in Grace United Methodist Church in Baltimore. Kyle Prue replaces Kwame Kwei-Armah who will be unable to participate in this program due to an engagement in London.
