Like all of the theatre community, BroadwayWorld is shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely passing of 21-year-old Les Miserables performer Kyle Jean-Baptiste after an accident at his mother's home on Friday night. As reported yesterday, Tony Award-nominee Montego Glover and Alex Finke will join Alfie Boe, the internationally-acclaimed performer who takes over the role of Jean Valjean in Claude-Michel Schonberg & Alain Boublil's Les Miserables, on Sept 1. Glover succeeds Erika Henningsen as Fantine, while Finke (making her Broadway debut) replaces original cast member Samantha Hill. New York's flagship public media station THIRTEEN will air a special re-broadcast of the famed London LES MISERABLES 25th Anniversary Concert this Sunday evening, June 14 beginning at 7 pm. The concert, which celebrated the original London production's 25th Anniversary, took place on October 3, 2010 at the O2 Arena and starred Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean. Boe will reprise his legendary performance beginning September 1 in Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new Broadway revival of LES MISERABLES at the Imperial Theatre. The concert will also be broadcast on WLIW21 on Long Island Monday, June 15 at 7 pm and Saturday, June 20 on NJTV at 7 pm.

Boe begins performances in Les Miserables Tuesday, September 1. Tony Award nominee Ramin Karimloo will give his final performance as Valjean on Sunday, August 30. Boe made his Broadway debut as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann's acclaimed production La Boheme, for which he and his co-stars received a special Tony Award in 2003 for their performances.

Alfie Boe, who is internationally recognized for his tenor voice, first gained recognition in the US when he starred in Baz Luhrmann's LA BOHÈME. In 2010, he took on the role of Jean Valjean for the 25th Anniversary Concert of LES MISERABLES. Now, he is gearing up for the US release of his latest album, TRUST, and his appearance on Mr. Selfridge. Recently, I chatted with Alfie Boe about these projects and his career.
According to his official website, Alfie Boe has postponed his upcoming US Tour. A just-released statement reads: 'Regrettably we have to announce that the Alfie Boe Winter US Tour is being cancelled for now. We hope to reschedule and will announce as soon as we are able. Alfie is really sorry to disappoint his US fans, but we are hopeful we will be putting another tour in place in the not too distant future.'
