Alexa Ray Joel Returns To Café Carlyle This Fall

Singer-songwriter Alexa Ray Joel returns to Cafe Carlyle for her fifth engagement, September 25-October 6. Reviewing a previous residency at the Cafe, The New York Times called Joel, daughter of music legend Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley, "a singer following her own heart." Joel, immortalized in her father's hit song, "The Downeaster Alexa," has said that by age 15, she was finishing complete songs and complementing those songs with piano accompaniment and poetry.

Performances will take place Tuesday - Saturday at 8:45pm. Reservations made by phone at 212.744.1600 are $75 ($125 for premium seating, $55 for bar seating) Tuesday - Thursday; and $85 ($135 for premium seating, $65 for bar seating) on Friday and Saturday. Reservations can also made online via Ticketweb. Cafe Carlyle is located in The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel (35 East 76th Street, at Madison Avenue).

Cafe Carlyle is pleased to welcome back Alexa Ray Joel for a two-week engagement, October 20-31. Reviewing a previous engagement at the Cafe, The New York Times called Joel, daughter of music legend Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley, "a singer following her own heart," adding, "Her original work… is firmly grounded in a pop tradition in which streams converge, from gospel to Tin Pan Alley. The songs are bluntly melodic, lyrically direct and catchy." Since she was 15, Joel has been writing complete songs and complementing those songs with piano accompaniment, and writing poetry. At Cafe Carlyle, Alexa Ray Joel will perform original material in addition to giving her signature style to a set of popular songs. She'll be accompanied by Carmine Giglio on piano.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Alexa Ray Joel, the 28-year-old singer/songwriter and daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, fainted onstage during a show at Cafe Carlyle on April 14. Now, Showbiz411 writes that Joel will return to the venue on June 24 and 28 to make up for the lost performance.
