The highly anticipated season-closer of Billy Elliot the Musical has been a long-time coming for Theatre Calgary. With the promise of an all-Calgarian cast and more musical showcasing from emerging artists, there was a lot of excitement leading up to opening night. I left the Max Bell Theatre with the same excitement for all the things to come from this incredible production.

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts announced today that the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center (THPAC) has donated its archives to the Library.

Theatre Calgary is set to close the 2018-19 season with a wonderful story about following your dreams as we present Billy Elliot The Musical, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, and music by Elton John. This Tony Award-winning musical is an inspiring and moving tale about the importance of following your heart.

In anticipation of opening night of Theatre Calgary's production of Billy Elliot, I sat down with Dance Captain Amber Bissonnette to talk about her career and life as a dancer. 'I got started in dance when I was five. My second cousin's mom owned a dance studio and my mom and my sister had just moved to Edmonton - where I'm from - and she was looking for a way to keep us busy. I started singing and acting when I was about thirteen and it was all downhill from there.'

Beautifully choreographed by Seth Travaglino and directed by Chris Marshall, this is one of the finest high school shows you'll see.

Tim Renkow (Bobby and Harriet Get Married) and Lorraine Bracco (Sopranos, Goodfellas) star as Tim and his loud, proud mother, in BBC Three comedy series, Jerk.

The marathon evening of one-minute plays by 60 established and emerging Boston area playwrights and directors plays three performances only. Today, January 5th at 8pm, Sunday, January 6th at 8pm, & Monday, January 7th at 8pm.

This will be the first time the show has been made available to viewers on TV and will be available on Freeview + You View, Freesat, Sky and Virgin in the UK as well as part of BFBS TV for HM Forces serving worldwide.

Theatre Tuscaloosa presents its third annual production of A Christmas Carol December 10-16 in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Rd).

Asheville Creative Arts (ACA), Asheville's professional children's theatre, continues in its 7th season to build on the successful mounting of its first world premiere, BUGS!, to present a second world premiere, LINTHEAD, as well as a new take on the family classic, CHARLOTTE'S WEB. Its mobile unit, which launched last season with the touring puppet musical, SLUG & SNAIL, will grow to include the touring version of BUGS!, and the company will offer expanded educational opportunities with both spring after-school classes and 2 sessions of summer camp. Details will be unveiled at ACA's annual Fall Fete held Nov 8 at Ambrose West (312 Haywood Road) from 7-9pm. The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present singer/trumpet player Brian Newman and the New Alchemy Jazz Orchestra on Monday, October 8.

On Friday 25th January 2019 Heresy Records will release THE HERESY OSTRACA, by Roger Doyle, 'The Godfather of Irish Electronic Music'.
