Casting has been announced for the upcoming reading of the new musical comedy Summer Schlock, with book, music, and lyrics by Kevin Carter (That's Andy), directed by Tony Award-winning director/producer Andy Sandberg (Hair, The Last Smoker in America) with music direction by Andy Einhorn.

Theatergoers of a certain age will remember walking past The Little Theatre (now the Helen Hayes) when Albert Innaurato's comedy GEMINI was running and seeing Kenn Duncan's black and white photographs outside. The one that received the most attention was that of the bare-chested Reed Birney who was featured in that long-running comedy. Birney also received even more attention when the television ads for that production were aired. The TV commercials not only popularized a phrase that became a buzz word throughout the tri-state area: ‘Herschel, take human bites!'; but gave Birney a few seconds of air time that were unmistakable.

The author of the longest-running Broadway comedy of the past fifty years, Albert Innaurato, has uncapped his pen to adapt one of his favorite plays, Beaumarchais' The Marriage of Figaro, and will direct a staged reading of his newest work under the auspices of the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts at the University of the Arts in the Caplan Studio Theater, 211 S. STANDING ON CEREMONY: THE GAY MARRIAGE PLAYS, a collection of short plays written for marriage equality to benefit Human Rights Campaign, Marriage Equality New York and New York Theatre Workshop will take place on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Angel Orensanz Center, 172 Norfolk Street in New York City, between Houston and Stanton Streets. Dancing and a glamorous wedding reception will follow.
