The Repertory East Playhouse will open its 2011 Season with Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, by Terrence McNally and sponsored by Mission View Public Schools. 'This is an amazing piece of theatre, and a challenge for us. We are all very excited for this production.' says Artistic Director Ovington Michael Owston.

Photographer Stacy Battles, one of Nashville's best known celebrity photographers, was on hand to shoot the red carpet arrivals that heralded the return of First Night, after an absence of some 14 years. First Night is presented by Jeffrey Ellis, who covers Nashville theater for BroadwayWorld.com, and who is the founder of the awards celebration that was first held on September 17, 1989.

The Boiler Room Theatre (BRT), Williamson County's residentprofessional theatre company, will open its 10 th season on Feb. 5, 2010 with Fiddler onthe Roof for a run through Feb. 27 at the theatre, located in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., Building Six, in Franklin, Tenn.

The inspired lunacy of Michael Frayn's Noises Off is a good choice for any theatre company seeking to offer a glimpse into the wacky antics of life on the boards and Circle Players continues its 60th annual season with a largely successful production that features the aforementioned stellar performances of Maggie Pitt and Jeremy Maxwell in the roles of Poppy and Tim (the techies in Frayn's show-within-a-show structure). Pitt and Maxwell deliver disarmingly natural performances amid all the hilarious hijinks taking place in Frayn's wonderfully funny farce and they very nearly-actually, they do it outright-steal the show.

Opening Friday, October 16, at Nashville's Z. Alexander Looby Theatre, and running for three weekends, the plot of Noises Off focuses on a 'highly dysfunctional theatre troupe as it puts on an unfunny farce called Nothing On,' explains Regine McClain, Circle's public relations director. 'In Act 1, the audience gets to see a dress rehearsal that is not going well. In Act 2, the cast performs the first act as the audience watches from the backstage perspective, where things are getting out of hand. The final act shows the play after two months of touring, when the show has deteriorated into a total disaster, yet a delightful one.'

Michael Frayn's Noises Off is the next production of Circle Players' 2009-2010 season, running October 16 through November 1. Frayn's comedy is a play with a play, filled with door slams and physical gags as a dysfunctional cast and crew attempt to open a new theatre production to tour the British provinces.

Green has long been heralded as one of the region's finest music directors, while Ditty has gained a justifiably stellar reputation as one of the best choreographers around. With this production, which exemplifies the term 'all-singing, all-dancing,' it's apropos then that the two would share the directing credit. Obviously, from the first notes of the overture to the final tormented moments of Jesus Christ's death on the cross, the shared vision of the two men is vividly portrayed and stunningly realized. The work, widely considered the first 'rock opera,' is movingly exhilarating, taking audiences on a veritable rollercoaster ride of emotional highs and lows.
