The John W. Engeman Theater has announced the cast and creative team for WHITE CHRISTMAS. Performances begin on Thursday, November 11, 2021, and run through Sunday, January 2, 2022.

Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning American playwright August Wilson’s play “Radio Golf” will officially open the 2021-2022 mainstage season at Gulfshore Playhouse. Directed by Marshall Jones III, “Radio Golf” will play at Gulfshore Playhouse beginning Nov. 11 through Dec. 5, 2021.

Carter Calvert will return to New Hope with her one-woman salute to Cline. Entitled, “Walkin’ After Midnight: A Patsy Cline Tribute,” Calvert will be backed by the Roger Cohen Band and will perform 10 shows from October 14 – 24

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, Nick Lane’s thrilling adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s dark psychological fantasy, visits Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre next month.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the return of Title Wave @ Bay Street: The New Works Series for its 7th year, with performances of four new plays live and in-person at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor.

The Stage Managers’ Association has announced its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management.  The 2021 honourees are distinguished theatrical stage managers Ruth E. Kramer and Lynda A. Lavin, television stage manager Arthur Lewis, and in-memoriam legendary Broadway stage manager Charles Allen Blackwell.

Little Girl Blue: The Nina Simone Musical, which made its world premiere at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey two and half years ago, is again taking audiences by storm in bucolic Connecticut at Goodspeed by the River.

The season features nine productions exploring stories of contemporary culture, heroic activists, everyday people in extraordinary times, and lots of music. In its 50th season, ASF continues its mission of building community with captivating stories for that speak to and represent all people in the South. 

Following being filmed and streamed in 2020, this thrilling adaptation by Nick Lane of Robert Louis Stevenson’s dark psychological fantasy is touring the country from September 2021 – May 2022 with over 100 dates, immersing audiences in the myth and mystery of 19th century London.  

After conducting a thorough national search, the Alliance Theatre is pleased to announce that Shaina Pierce has been chosen as the inaugural Stage Management Fellow for the Alliance Theatre, beginning August 1, 2021, and continuing until the end of our 2021/22 Season. Pierce is a recent graduate of the University of Alabama and has worked with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Cloverdale Playhouse, the Montgomery Ballet, and Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre.

The Fulton Theatre has announced the schedule of its inaugural in person playwriting festival. “Stories of Diversity,” July 16 – July 18, 2021. The festival will feature three distinct and diverse plays that will engage the Lancaster community in much needed conversation.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival invites friends, neighbors and visitors to Montgomery to celebrate and reflect on Juneteenth with us. Walk the stunning grounds to learn about the history of Juneteenth and take in perspectives on freedom from 13 Black artists who've collaborated with ASF over the years. The Juneteenth outdoor installation will be up on ASF's great lawn through July 5.

George Street Playhouse will welcome students ages 5 thru 18 to participate in a  FREE one-day only acting workshop for budding artists on Saturday, June 26 from 9 am to 12:30 pm.   

Jennafer Newberry and Alexander Mendoza will release 'Over the Beautiful City,' a duet of 'Over the Rainbow' from The Wizard of Oz and 'Beautiful City' from Godspell, on Friday June 11, the proceeds from which are being donated to The Trevor Project and One Pulse Foundation.

The Dramatists Guild of America has announced they will present the 2021 Horton Foote Playwriting Award to five amazing playwrights – Carla Ching, Kia Corthron, Aleshea Harris, Donja R. Love, and Mfoniso Udofia - at the Dramatists Guild’s awards presentations later this summer. 

The winners of the Finstrom Festival of New Work are Finding Neil Patrick Harris by Donna Hoke, The Guilt Mongers or Los Traficantes de Culpa (for those not willing to submit to the Anglicization of our people) by C. Julian Jiménez, The Equivalent of Sensation by Arianna Rose, One-Shot by Andrew Rosendorf and Baby Camp by Nandita Shenoy.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival's magical Shakespeare Garden amphitheater will come alive for Garden Glow, a summer music series featuring Jazz, Blues, Singer-Songwriters, and Folk/Americana on four Friday evenings in June and July.

Broadway veteran Laiona Michelle, writer and star of the George Street Playhouse’s production of Little Girl Blue - The Nina Simone Musical has joined the staff of George Street Playhouse as Artistic Associate. 

Alabama Shakespeare Festival is inviting friends and neighbors to celebrate William Shakespeare’s 457th birthday with a Garden happy hour. Bard Bash 2021 will take place on Friday, April 23, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. in the Shakespeare Garden.
