"American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose," written by Richard Montoya, developed by Culture Clash and Jo Bonney, and directed by Bonney, opens Sunday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre. Performances begin March 9 and continue through April 1, 2012.
Reba Buhr to Perform Sterling's Final Show at Vitello's, 3/18; Moves to The Federal, 4/1

After reigning since 2006 as the most critically acclaimed, award-winning supper club of its kind in the greater Los Angeles area, Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's will close its doors in Studio City, CA on Sunday, March 18 following its final show headlined by Reba Buhr, co-star of Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA. Miss Buhr is also a host for the Disney Channel's popular 365 television series. The announcement became official by producer Michael Sterling.

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle's 43rd Annual Awards Show will take place on Monday, March 19, 2012 at A Noise Within in Pasadena. The show will feature performances from previously-announced hosts Jason Graae (recipient of the 2007 Joel Hirschhorn Award for outstanding achievement in musical theatre) and Lesli Margherita (nominee for Kiss Me, Kate). In addition, the Awards show will feature the Los Angeles premiere performance of My Husband, by Paul Rudnick, a short play added to the New York production of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. Also, Yvette Tucker and Salvatore Vasallo will perform an excerpt from "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue," from On Your Toes, choreographed by this year's Hirschhorn Award recipient, Lee Martino.

Tickets go on sale Sunday, March 4 for the award-winning musical "Mary Poppins," Broadway's magical hit musical that returns to the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles for four weeks only, August 9 through September 2, 2012, as a bonus option to the 2011-2012 Ahmanson season. Press Opening Night is set for Friday, August 10 at 7:30 p.m.

The Colony Theatre is set to present the fifth production of its 37th season of shows, the Pulitzer Prize nominee, OLD WICKED SONGS, written by Jon Marans and directed by Stephanie Vlahos. OLD WICKED SONGS runs through Sunday, March 4 at The Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street (at Cypress) adjacent to the Burbank Town Center.

William H. and Karla Ahmanson recently hosted an event that gave attendees the opportunity to see the puppetry of WAR HORSE up close. They met the puppeteers and were able to ask them questions after seeing them in action. Mr. Ahmanson is the Center Theatre Group Board President.

Japan Foundation Announces Free World Concert Tour for March; Dates Set for NYC, LA, China & More

A worldwide series of free concerts has been arranged by The Japan Foundation to convey the Japanese people's gratitude to the global community for their support during the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami.
On Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30 PM, The Japan Foundation will present 'Overcoming the Disaster: Gratitude from Japan to the World,' at the Rose Theater in New York City.

Coming to the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre direct from Broadway for six weeks only, the Kennedy Center's critically acclaimed Broadway production of James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's "Follies," has now completed casting. "Follies" stars four-time Tony Award nominee Jan Maxwell as Phyllis Rogers Stone, Tony Award winner Victoria Clark, two-time Tony Award nominee Danny Burstein as Buddy Plummer, three-time Emmy Award nominee Ron Raines as Benjamin Stone and Olivier Award winner Elaine Paige as Carlotta Campion. Maxwell, Burstein, Raines and Paige are all returning to the roles they originated on Broadway.

Charles Dillingham to Join The Pasadena Playhouse as Interim Executive Director

The Board of Directors of The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director) announced today that Charles Dillingham will serve as interim Executive Director of the theatre during the transition period following Stephen Eich's departure and as The Playhouse launches a national search for a new Executive Director. Dillingham's services are being provided by Arts Consulting Group (ACG), a national consulting firm where he is Vice President. Until he joined ACG in June of 2011 he had been managing director of Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles for twenty years.
