A worldwide series of free concerts has been arranged by The Japan Foundation to convey the Japanese people's gratitude to the global community for their support during the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami. On Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30 PM, The Japan Foundation will present 'Overcoming the Disaster: Gratitude from Japan to the World,' at the Rose Theater in New York City.

Danai Gurira's powerful new play, "The Convert," which was commissioned by Center Theatre Group, will be presented at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, April 17 through May 19, 2012. The opening is scheduled for April 19. The world premiere production of "The Convert," a co-production with McCarter Theatre Center and Goodman Theatre, is directed by Emily Mann.

The cast has been set for the new work, "American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose," written by Richard Montoya, developed by Culture Clash and Jo Bonney and directed by Bonney. "American Night," a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse, begins performances at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre, March 9 after closing in La Jolla in late February. The show continues at the Douglas through April 1, 2012. Opening night is March 11.

Colony Theater Presents OLD WICKED SONGS, Previews 2/1

The Colony Theatre is set to present the fifth production of its 37th season of shows, the Pulitzer Prize nominee, OLD WICKED SONGS, written by Jon Marans and directed by Stephanie Vlahos. OLD WICKED SONGS will preview on Wednesday, February 1; Thursday, February 2; and Friday, February 3 at 8:00pm and will open on Saturday, February 4 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, March 4 at The Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street (at Cypress) adjacent to the Burbank Town Center.

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles, Orange County and Ventura County theatre for the year 2011. The 43rd Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 19, 2012 at A Noise Within, the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, in its new 33,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art venue in Pasadena, thanks to the generous donation of A Noise Within's management. The theatre is located on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Sierra Madre Villa Avenue at 3352 East Foothill Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107. Tickets are $40, and should be reserved in advance from the LADCC's website, at www.ladramacriticscircle.com. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for pre-show hors d'oeuvres (with no-host bar), and the show commences at 7:30 p.m.

FOLLIES Fails to Recoup on Broadway

Follies just took its final Broadway ow last night, January 22, and according to the New York Times, despite its extended run, the show failed to recoup its initial investment. Michael Kaiser of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts told the HUffington Post that 'while the production did not recoup its full investment on Broadway, it did far better financially than I had planned.'
