Ähnlich bedingungslos wie Brel es schaffte in einem Chanson eine ganze Welt zu erschaffen und den Inhalt bedingungslos, ohne Rucksicht aiuf Verluste zu verinnerlichen gelingt es auch dem glanzend aufgelegten Horwitz Brels Stucken Seele, Witz und Tiefgang zu verleihen. Horwitz hat schon einige Erfahrung mit Brel. Dominique Horwitz' intensive Auseinandersetzung mit Jaques Brel beginnt 1984 im Munchner Residenztheater mit seiner ersten Brel-Produktion. 1997 hat dann „Dominique Horwitz singt Jacques Brel" in Hamburg Premiere. 1998 feiert er mit dieser Produktion einen fulminanten Erfolg in der Bar jeder Vernunft.
